Hi there!

Me and my partner have just bought our 1st tent and are hoping to find a child friendly campsite. We only plan on spending a few nights there so don't want to have 2 drive to far (so far come up with lakes or filey type areas but open 2 suggestions),we're also on a tight budget. We're trying to find somewhere ideal for 2 small children (1&almost 3) ie quiet on an evening, small play area etc other than that and clean hot showers&a shop we're not 2fusy. does any1 have any suggestions??

We have just returned from Bury Caravan Club Site. The facilities were immaculate - they even had a bathroom for kids so we could bath the boys before bed.

There is the Steam Railway that runs alongside the camp so in the daytime you have every 15 minutes lovely steam or diesel trains chugging by all whistles blowing and people waving.

It is next to Burrs country park so lots of lovely walks along river banks, the boys caught tadpoles.

All in all higly recommended

We only started camping this year and we have two children - 5 and 2.

I have not been to a campsite yet that is not child friendly (I admit I have only been to two):

Whitecliffe Bay - Isle of Wight
Ty Mwyr - Abergele North Wales.

We are staying in Mold for next bank holiday - hopefully that will also be child friendly.

Best of luck.

Hi Kelly

We go to Ripley Caravan Park regularly, in fact our youngster (6 now) likes it that much she picked it for our main summer holidays.

Its just outside Harrogate and has a small swimming pool, a good play area for children, spotless facilities and a small shop that stocks the essentials.

HTH

Paul

The Burrs Country Park CC site in Bury is also right next to a pub that does food and has a play area, it is 5 minutes walk to another pub (The Garsdale) that does excellent food and has a beer garden, children welcome until 9 pm.  It is about a mile form the centre of Bury frorm where you can catch (as opposed to just watching) steam train on the East Lancs Railway.

As its title suggests Burrs is right in the middle of a country park so loads to do for the children, ducks to feed, walks, and a really good play area (huge) just at the entrance to the park on you way to The Garsdale pub, perfect!
