We stayed at Castlerigg Farm last summer - beautiful surroundings (you can eat breakfast & see lots of mountains around you). Good site although have to negotiate other peoples pitches as you walk to the loos as everyone has to find a spot in a massive field. Good walk into Keswick altho we chickened out & caught the bus back!

hi scotgate is a good site small cafe and shop on site wonderfull views and two pubs in the village can be very busy bank hols and school hols and gets quite muddy after heavy rain and its open all year
We went round Castlerigg and it looked a good site, a lot of the C&CC sites have good reviews and are very popular, but I believe they need to be booked early.

Castlerigg Hall is our usual. Its very quiet and very well kept - they are into conservation, with lovely views as well.
We have done Scottgate and although it is a lovely site the A66 runs quite close to the site and can be quite noisy as it is used by large lorries 24 hours a day on and off.
It is definitely more quiet and countryfide at Castlerigg Hall.
A bit far from Keswick but have to say Fisherground is great! Middle of nowhere (apart from the Pub !) and you can have a fire (slightly smaller than on previous occasions !) but replying to your Question . . . . . Lights out are at 10.30pm Alison (the owner) will patrol with her high beam torch to ensure the fire isn't too big and that the laughter isn't too loud!!!! Great site, great facilities excellent location and despite her patrols great atmosphere on site. Nothing better than chillin' round a fire with the sounds of the site !! A must !!

we have descided to go to Castlerigg Farm Camping and Caravan Site for this bank holiday weekend - hope we can get in, thanks to all who answered my thread.
We are going to try Scotgate too next time we camp, they all look nice.
