yes i would reccomend Star it is in walking distance of Alton Towers, and sometimes you can sneek in! (would not reccomend this).

There is also Hales Hall Park but that will be a drive to Alton Towers but you do get good amenites there like bar and pool.

Would reccomend Star though.

The nearest site i know to Alton towers is Hales Hall, only a couple of miles away. but i would only recommend staying there as a last resort. We used to store our van there a few years ago and were very dissapointed. From what i hear it has gone down hill since.

I stayed at Hales Hall last year at May Day and thought it was okay. Not posh but not a dive either - bogs were clean, washing up areas okay but rubbish water pressure in showers.

You can get a bus from near there to Alton Towers I understand. I reviewed the site on here.
