Hi, we stayed in a camp site very near to alton towers a couple of years ago. Dont remember the name of it but only a coulpe miles from the park. It had shower block and toilets but not a lot else. Best i can do is directions. Turning right out of main enterance of Alton towers follow road a coulpe of miles until you come to a pub called 'Ye old star inn ' its on a corner or junction. Go right passed it and its just up the road on the right. If you found the pub (does good food and drink) you could ask there if you got lost but its pretty easy to find.
Hi I stayed at the same came site about 15 yrs ago,had a great weekend at Alton Towers, all I can remember it was near a good pub and only5-10mins away from Alton Towers. Have a great time.
The nearest site i know to Alton towers is Hales Hall, only a couple of miles away. but i would only recommend staying there as a last resort. We used to store our van there a few years ago and were very dissapointed. From what i hear it has gone down hill since.
My daughter stayed at The Star earlier this month and rated it, although I got the impression the staff wouldn't win may prizes for politeness or a welcoming attitude!
we stayed at the star last year .be warned its like a pow camp.the kids got told off for playing in the park!!!!! and we got told off for talking at 10.30pm!!!....toilets and showers not a lot to be desired, although the camp is quite nice, the very strict rules and miserable staff ruin it.maybe they should ban kids if thats how they feel.expensive too .1st and last visit, unless owners change
I stayed at Hales Hall last year at May Day and thought it was okay. Not posh but not a dive either - bogs were clean, washing up areas okay but rubbish water pressure in showers.
You can get a bus from near there to Alton Towers I understand. I reviewed the site on here.
We have been to Star a few years ago and it was lovely! The manager was not the best at customer relations but hey, we were not there to socialise with him! It was well run and clean which was the main thing! The pub is great and welcoming! Food is fantastic and great value for money! Well worth a visit.

we went to rivendale in derbyshire at easter. It was approx 30 mins away from Alton Towers. We went to the theme park 1 day and Cariba Creek Water Park the next. The site was lovely and although it had a bar & club house it was still realativly quiet. A day out a Matlock is also recommended.
