We have just booked 13 nights starting the last week of June at this club site, has anyone any opinions of Bodmin town and club site? as there are only two reviews on here. Also we will be looking for a stop off for a nap after the Avonmouth bridge on the way down, travelling from Durham starting about 10.00pm travelling over night. Any opinions would be appreciated

I haven't stayed there but there are a couple of reviews.

As the C&CC sites are generally run to the same standard, I would imagine you will find the site to be well run with clean loos and showers and quiet at night.

yes ive been and we are going again in july.
i like it. its very well run, nice open outlook quiet even though it is just off the by pass. some pitches slightly slopeing but nothing to worry about. the hard standings are fine. we have been going to newquay for years but have decided to return to bodmin because it is in a very central location. the town is walking distance although it is a steep walk back up. there is an asda very close and a morrisons just down the road. the town is worth looking around although its not very big. the steam train station is worth a visit even if you dont go on the train and the museum and tourist information is also interesting they have an enactment of a murder that happened on the moors we enjoyed this but i dont think its suitable for children.
if you like cycling you can hire bikes and cycle to wadebridge and padstow very flat and all off road with a pub about half way for refreshments. i love the eden project but my husband says after 3 visits he is not going again. the beach at morgan porth and watergate bay are about 20 to 30 mins drive away. im not sure about the buses in the area.
i do like this site and its location and am returning because i want to go to the lost gardens of heligan and i would like to visit bodmin moor for walking. i have biked to padstow is a very pretty trip. with lots of little gift shops and eating places when you get there.
my sister is there at the moment she said the weather is not very good though. i dont think you will be disappointed with this site.
good luck

sorry ive just noticed you are looking for a half way stop. what about the c&cc site at weston just off the motorway.
or there are quite a lot of services on the motorway after bristol.
if that is too far winchcombe c&cc site is about 5 miles off the M5 i think junction 9 lovely site for a stop over.

if i dont take my bike i always wish i had. my husband doesnt have one so we always have to hire one for him. then i often just ride around the site like the kids.
there are a few off road cycle paths one near oakhampton and another further down in cornwall near i think near camborne.
go on to the cornwall tourist information webb site and send for their brochure.

Stayed here in 2003 and echo what has been said. It was excellent, very handy for north and south Cornwall. We had our frame tent (no EHU ) and were pitched at our choice close to toilets/showers.

There are some well sheltered pitches scattered around the site.

Occasionally dined at Asda or Safeway as it was then rather than cook.

you have a great time.

Hi Kawa

OH's Parents used to spend 2 weeks each summer on this site, and we would visit for weekend. I can highly recommend it, pleasant site with good facilities. As others have said Bodmin is a nice little town and you are also ideally located for visiting other areas of Cornwall especially Newquay and Padstow.

Im very jealous and reminiscing all those cream teas and giant cornish pasties

forgot to add an absolute must is a visit to Trago Mills in Liskeard, the most bizarre shop in Cornwall its huge and even has picnic areas outside, It sells all kinds from outdoor stuff to home furnishings. The owner is very Anti Europe and has erected comical statues of politicians outside -very bizarre
