I just went to the website and the cost was £47 for one night. I am sure it must be a mistake. There would only be two of us in a tiny motorhome.

OR it must be a remarkable site!!!!

Have a good time if you go.

I can only recall being there about 20 years ago in a particularly wet August and the site was under water, our awning was virtually floating away!

Im sure that price is a mistake as we have had it booked for 2 wks and it only cost us £20, you havent put any insurance for cancellation on have you as it bumps it up.  unless its different for a caravan, we are only in a tent.

Wild duck? We stayed there approx 3 years ago and absolutely hated it but it may have changed by now. You can read my review but I was posting under the name Sonesta then. Here is a link to my review and all the others reviews for the Wild Duck site and as you will see most people like it there.

P.S. I must stress that we did go during the busy October half term week and maybe during quieter times when the site is less hectic it is better maintained and is probably different again. Like I say, from reading all the reviews, it would seem our opinion appears to be very much in the minority so don't be put off by my views as it could have just been a bad week. I am not one for holiday camp style campsites so I am maybe not the best person to advise on this particular venue but I will say it was great for anyone who has chidren in their family as it is very much a family based site and my grandaughter really enjoyed it there.

My girls(4 & 2 ) love haven sites, mainly for rory & bradly, we would rather try and keep them amused as life can be difficult if not. I agree its not everyones cup of tea, but for children of our age is ideal, taking them to the entertainment till 9-10 then take them back for them to sleep and me & oh drink till we drop.

(hopefully they will have a lie in- but im not holding my breath)

Hi Carpman

I have just got back from Wild Duck, we went on Monday in the pouring rain and didn't have any problems.  I rang them before i went and they said it was good drainage but thought they would say that anyway but it was ok where we were pitched.  We had a great time, my kids love rory and bradley too.  The toilet block was spotless as well.  Hope you a have a good time.  We will deffo be going back its lovely the pitches are all amongst the trees.

Thank you Moominy thats very reassuring as we are leaving at 9am tom morn, it only takes us about 1 1/2 hours towing the trailer but they said we could get on at 10.30 and take our pick at a pitch. It also looks like the weather might be looking good for us.  Will let you all know how it goes. (coming home monday) .

Just to let you all know, we came back monday, the showers and toilets were always clean, (someone in there every few hours cleaning them). the pitches were abit cramped for our liking but otherwise it was a very friendly/clean site and the girls absolutely loved bradley, rory & co which is the main reason for going for us. Not sure we would go in a half term week as it was very busy, even though we caught the end of it by going on sat - mon.

Oh and it didnt rain at all, not even at night which miffed us a bit as we wanted to test our new monty 6,   will have to wait for our Isle of Wight trip now.

Glad you had a good time Carpman.  Our tent stood up to a good 24hrs of rain   with no probs,      but i dont wanna experience it again on our next hols when we go down to Somerset, putting up the tent in the pouring rain wasnt the best way to start our hols!

Hi there !

Just come back from a long weekend at Wild Duck! No boggyness or damp patches anywhere, which was quite amazing, considering the amount of rain we had at start of the week. I stayed in a static this time, (booked via the Sun Holidays ) but  had a good look round the camping area, and was no puddles or muddy patches I could see. Thought the tents were packed in a bit close, but only to be expected in the Half Term break, the park was very busy.

Very nice setting, in amongst the trees, my children loved catching sight of the many squirrels and rabbits which scurry about throughout the day there. Also we even spotted a wood-pecker!

Hi chinagirl,   we were near to the road with our monty 6, and agree the tents/caravans were pretty close to each other but it was very busy. It is a lovely site plan to go back (hopefully later this year). your right there was not any puddles/boggy patches but it was a very warm weekend. There was also a cookoo, which i heard quite early . But overall we would recommend to anyone with children.
