Fisherground at Eskdale isn`t that expensive, but you cant book, you just have to turn up and hope.

I would have thought £20 a night in the school holidays was quite reasonable.

I like Low Wray which is a National Trust site near Ambleside.  I's right next to the lake & not at all flashy.  The loo are fine (& I'm REALLY fussy) & there's a playground.

I'd recommend Brockhole (nr Windermere) for a good day out with children - ace adventure playground, boat trips, exhibitions, gardens, playing fields & trails & not too expensive to get in.  They quite often have school holiday activities.

Herdwick Croft at the top of Bassenthwaite is very reasonable.

Might be worth checking out some of the small 5 van Certificated sites that are limited to 5 caravan/motorhomes plus as many tents as will safely fit.

You may be able to book the whole site for your stay and therefore there will be nobody else to disturb !!
