Hi

Just wanted to know if anyone has stayed here recently?

Can you give us an idea of what the site is like? We prefer spacious pitches ,clean facilities, and if poss neat grass and borders, and room for family ball games.  Please try to get back asap as we have just booked today for this weekend.

Thanks

Dawn

Hi

Sorry can't help you for this weekend, but we have booked this site for August and would appreciate your views on the site, as the last review was dated April 2006, although the site does look nice when you look at their website.

Many thanks

Hi Dawn

I stay in Dumfries and go to brighouse bay quite often which is the sister site to this one and also a lot bigger we have took a drive round seaward and it looks ok if its the same as brighouse then it will be well kept.

You will be only a couple of miles from Kirkcudbright which is a lovely wee harbour town and nice for a walk round. If you have kids and are wanting to know about things todo just let me know and i will give you a few ideas all quite cheap as i am a scotsman.

Gerry

Hi Suzanne

Well for starters you could throw them in the sea. Only joking depending on what age they are and how far you would like to travel about 5 miles away is my daughters(9 Years old) fav place it is cream of galloway they have a website. This is a farm that makes ice cream but they also have a brilliant play area in the forest cant remember how much but less than £10 for the family for the day they have a play barn and cafe although the cafe is great it is a tad expensive but they dont mind you bringing your own picnic to eat in the barn as long as you pay to use the play area.

Then if you go into kirkcudbright about 6 miles the other way they have a small zoo havent been for a while but again daughter loved it also get to feed some small animals.

At the campsite its self they have pony treking but make sure you book in advance as it is really busy as it is open to public aswell. They also have quad biking Sophie hasn't tried that yet and if you take fishing rods you can fish on the campsite lochs for free.

As a parent i think the best part is the beech adjoing the park take a fishing net and bucket and kids will amuse them self all day and the best bit is its free lol.

They also have a lovely wee swimming pool on site its about £6 for family of 4 but if you plan to use often ask about there card they mark everytime you pay and get a free one on 5th or 6th visit.

The meals on site are also good they have a bistro and bar/loung area good idea to book lounge in the morning and when you finish your meal you can just sit and watch entertainment.

If your into golf they have an 18 hole but also a wee pitch and put for kids and big kids.

Hope i havent went on to much this is just acouple of things near the site but if you want to travel slightly further let me know also on your way up i assume you will travel on the a75 well if you do and its daytime stop at dalton pottery nice wee cafe and great place for kids.

Please let me know if you need more info

Gerry

Have a great holiday

Hi Again Suzanne

I think you and your family will love it Hoddam is also a lovely site and has its own 9 hole golf course aswell.

When you go to hoddam you will be able to visit Dalton pottery as it is only 5 miles or so away there is also an animal sactuary near dalton which is free and has rescue animals if the kids like that kind of thing. Just outside dalton on the A75 at carrutherstown (you pass it on way up) there is a mace maze not been to it yet but heard good reports have other things too.

Also while your at hoddam if you have a nice day which you always get in scotland  you should take the kids to the beech at powfoot when the tide is out you can see and walk for miles also during the summer weekends only i think, they do pony treking along the beech you will find them next to the powfoot hotel.

I will ask my Daughter when she comes home tonight what her fave things are for both areas and pass them on if you want but think i have them covered there is also loads to do in Dumfries and surrounding area lots of free activities aswell.Dumfries is about 12 miles from hoddam and 25 from brighouse

Again hope i haven't rabbled on and have a great time here in bonny Scotland

Gerry
