Hi,

Got my tent and we are all ready to camp - just one disadvantage that i have spent all my money on the tent!! looking for a cheap basic campsite that is only a field with a tap, toilet, shower and takes dogs. Has to be in the South West cause i don't want to travel too far and if it was near beach that would be superb. Any one got any ideas for me. much appreciated.

Are you a member of either club? Their certificated sites are cheap, sometimes you can stay on them as a non-member, but membership makes it cheaper. There seem to be quite a few of such sites in the Helston area but I have not stayed on any in Cornwall.

Try Noongallas just above Penzance. Friendly owners, laid back atmosphere, fires and dog friendly. Find it in the campsite search on this site. Been there for the last few years always had a great time sat around the fire having a late night drink with the owners. All the best beaches in Cornwall are only a short drive away north and south coast.

  Worth taking a look

 Jon

Hi Jon

Noongallas does sound very good and we will go there, but its £5 per person per night so with 4 of us that could be expensive for a 5 day stay. I am looking for £5 per pitch or am i being too optimistic!!

ukcampsite doesn't have any certificated (5-van sites).

Camping and Caravanning Club have certificated sites taking vans and tents.

Caravan Club have certificated Locations, but not much use to you if you have a tent.

CSMA have certificated sites, though not many, also take vans and tents.

If you are a camping and caravanning club member also worth having a look in the Out and About supplement they send you each month for temporary holiday sites - many lack toilets/showers but there are some which have them.

None of which helps if you don't belong to any of the clubs listed above............
