Ok peeps, so come on.......give me the REAL low down on this site please!

Have just managed to book a hardstanding pitch, (didn't particularly want a hard one if you'll pardon the expression but it's all they had left for any dates suitable for us), and all of the reviews on ukcs say how brilliant the whole place is with the exception of one apparently so.....come on.......what's the REAL storyBe just our luck to get that seriously sloping pitch too.........

We usually go on Pentewan or Heligan Woods but as we've left it so-o-o-o-o-o late, (too busy concentrating on our recent trip to paradise for our son's wedding), and we desperately wanted to still be around the Mevagissey area somewhere...this looked like a decent bet. Hope it's REALLY as nice as it sounds??????

Biting me nails here waiting for replies...............If it's not as good as it sounds.....I'll never hear the end of it

I'm sure it MUST be good coz otherwise ukcs would't give away holidays there as prizes......would THEY????????

Btw Webby....I did mention ukcs when bookingJust eagerly awaiting me email confirmation now........

Phew! Just had email confirmation back, (it probably arrived instantly but accidentally ended up in me junkmail for the first one), and not only have we now got our confirmation BUT...the nice chap has also confirmed that our pitch is nice and level AND a flat walk to the....facilities. Relieved now and hubby says he's now getting all excited coz we do love taking our tin tent away, even though it only ever happens ONCE a flamin' year

Mind you peeps.....I'd still to hear any info you've got about the site itself please. Just for a sort of belt and braces jobby

It's lovely - let them site your van, they know their pitches.  There is no bar or restaurant on site - but they do have a fair shop and provide warm snacks etc.  If you are looking for entertainment, this is not the place for you.  I really hope all stays fine for you, like you we love the area and Lobbs shop always gets their share of our money.  If you are on a level walk to the facilities then you are away from the road so traffic noise should be reduced.  The nearest village is a couple of miles away - pub and shop there.

Cheers for the info peeps, you've helped to reassure me that we've booked into a cracking place and who knows, it might be one we'll use again in years to come.

I've since had another couple of nice email from the chap and in one of them he did indeed offer to site our tin tent for us but as we only had our all singing all dancing whoopy doo motor mover fitted last year....I'm eager to play some more with itOnly way this ole decrepit can make herselg useful for pitching and hitching

So far as the entertainment etc. goes PP, we're not exactly party animals and in allllll the years we've been going to Pentewan we've never once been upstairs in the clubhouse and only used the downstairs pub bit about twice for an evening meal

Tbh, both hubby and I are more than content for peace and quiet, especially in the evening when he's happy to watch the box if we're not sitting outside enjoying the evening air, while I enjoy reading whatever books I've taken with me if we don't have..........a net connection

We've been going to the Mevagissey area for donkey's years and actually spend most of our time around the harbour, fishing but have found a new nice places for meals if not eating in the tin tent. Apart from the ultra busy Ship Inn, at Pentewan village there's another lovely place called the Polgooth Inn near The London Apprentice but the tiny road in to it can be a bit hairy! To think that there's actually a caravan storage place down that same narrow stretch is just terrifying!!!

I also did the virtual tour thingy on their website and have to say that the shop looks defo larger than the dinky one we've had on Heligan Woods which is just down the road from Tregarton, (and also the sister site of Pentewan).

We love Lobbs farm tooJust wish I'd never discovered their delicious white chocolate though

Keeping everything crossed for some decent weather coz we've not been too lucky with that for the past few years when in Cornwall

One year we went earlier and still lost out on decent weather managing only two glorious days.....the day we arrived and the next!

So....anybody heading for South Cornwall for the last two weeks in August.......take your wellies!

Tregarton has a lovely warm pool with a good area around it with plenty of seating. We went whit week & had a brill time despite the weather (it wasn't dreadful the whole time but pitching the tent on that sunday was a chore!!) .As already said the shop does takeaway food cooked from fresh 'til 6.30pm. It is a beautifully kept ,quiet site with extremely friendly staff ,we loved it,hope you have a wonderful holiday too.

I second everything said about Tregarton Park. We went last June and we had an excellent time.  I would definately recommend this site.

Staff are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble.

Have a great time Hippy Chick.

So relieved to read these reviews as we too have booked to go there......partly on the reviews on the UKCS website, but also their website makes it so easy to choose and book your pitch. Only 4 weeks to go....!
