Looking at either anglesley or abersoch or areas around these two places. Having never been i need some help!! Having looked at the campsites there is quite a few so i'm been lazy & asking if you can recommend the best ones or maybe the ones to avoid!!

I'm looking for a camping site thats driving distance from a beach & will have a childrens adventure park on site to amuse my 4yr old.

Thanks

Try Dyffryn Estates , it's not Abersoch but a few miles from Barmouth.   This is right alongside the beach and is a great site with a play area , a great chippy , and really clean shower blocks. The views from here are fabulous. At this time of year it's £12 a night or £16 ehu.

The only site on Angelsey we ever used was St Davids , but a lot of people , myself included, are staying away due to their £28 a night fees.

We do a lot of our camping on anglesey and it is a really lovely place but if like us you want nice  clean modern toilet blocks and decent play area ect , its gotten to be sooo expensive! Take a look at tyddn isaf. It has its own footpath down to lligwy bay and it is a spotless site but as i said expensive.

Message for Kate.....

As you are a seasoned traveller to Anglesey would you say tyddan isaf is the best site for camping? As you said clean facilites are essential & you pay for that!

Is there plenty to do in the area?

Cheers

Hi Jen21, I haven't really camped on Anglesey due to the fact I live here but try this link to see if there are any sites that take your fancy. Hope you find something to your liking. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=anglesey&by=county

Hi Jen, Yeah for us personally its the best but it does have a downside!! All the touring pitches are sloping! I can cope with this as cleanliness is more important to us than flat pitches. The veiws are stunning too. We tend to go into Holyhead as there isnt much to do in the immediate area. We always include a trip to RAF Valley to see the plains(were not anoraks, honestly lol) They are a fab site (especially the pilots!). I suggest that you try it for the weekend to make sure its for you but im sure you will fall in love with the place.Hope that helps.

Home Farm campsite on Anglesey is a fantastic site but as mentioned above, the really good sites on Anglesey tend to be expensive.

You could take a look at Y Fronydd on Anglesey. Its got a small playarea (couple of swings and some sand plus a few bikes/trikes to borrow) and is a very small site but has exceptionally clean showers and toilet in their new block. Might not be what you're after, but my three enjoyed it (age 9, 5 and 4) and certainly was enough to keep them amused.

Not within walking distance of a beach either but only about 10 mins by car.

Also extremely reasonable rates, we paid £12 for all of us. We were put off most of the others by the extortionate amounts they were charging.

I have visited Home Farm and it is lovely, well spaced out, immaculate with nice shower blocks.  Highly recommended!

I would say that Anglesey is definately worth a visit especially if the weather is good - some beautiful beaches - although lets face it the kids don't need sunshine do they?

I really enjoyed Y Fronydd with my 2 year old twins - small enough so that the playground is in site from most pitches - it is not the most exciting playground but becomes a good venue for the children to play - its small so a very friendly site and the children all mixed well - even had 2 little girls "babysit" while we put pur trailer tent up!!

Also, a field of sheep and chickens at the end of the site that we had to say good night to each evening.

And most importantly good value - I'm really hoping that with the advent of the new shower block the prices don't rise too much.

There is also a farm park about a 2 minute drive away - which though scruffy to us grown ups was a real wow to the kids - duck and dog shows, tractor and pony rides - but take a picnic!!!

Just to add on to Kiminwales post, the farm park isn't open on Saturdays. Not a problem for us but thought it worth mentioning in case anyone was planning a visit.

Hoping to get back to Y Fronydd again soon!

I have just come back from plas-uchaf at benllech (anglesey). Cracking Clean site, play area and only 5 mins drive from the beach.

First time I had been to Anglesey and at £12 a night for a tent think I will be back!

Hi everyone

thanks for your suggestions. I guess as no one has suggested anywhere in Abersoch that its not as popular as i thought. I've had some details through from Home Farm just waiting on the others.

Cheers

Ok I'll say go to Abersoch, try Beachview

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3045

we've been a couple of times & its great. Abersoch itself is nice and there are a couple of nice pubs in the village. the beach is nice . BeachView is the far side of Abersoch at Sarn Bach but the whole of the Llyn Penisulla is lovely.

Wherever you go in North Wales I'm sure you'll love it.
