Hi All,

Looking for a site Newton Stewart ish area. Would love near a beach as I have limited walking mobility but 2 little ones. EHU would be great but not essential, Just toilets and showers required no entertainment or bars. Can't find anything much to take our fancy as most in the campsite search are Static type sites.

Any ideas would be great planning to go end of July.

Thanks

Thanks Gerry,

OH is a doonhamer so stay with family when in Dumfries. He used to drive to Mull of Galloway etc with his job and always said we would have a trip to explore but we never got round to it when we stayed in the region. Just looking to fill 10 days. Looking for 5-7 days in a couple of locations so our trips are never too long with the kids in tow.

in newton there is creebridgec/site, but not listed here. Near a beach you would need to head towards garlieston or monreith, basically further down the peninsula. Have you considered over gatehouse/kirkcudbright way - approx 20-25 miles from Newton & some wonderful sites. Try a trip to mossyard beach near auchenlarie c/site as a fabulous beach - also a seasonal c/site there (or there was) Contact the tourist info in newton stewart as there are other local sites which dont seem to be listed. More local info available next week as visiting folks in newton at weekend!

Ps if the weather is good no better area in scotland- but im biased being brought up there!

Hi Buddie,

Down for guid nieghbours in Dumfries this weekend so might wander into the tourist board office. hadn't thought of trying them as this web site is my bible more or less.

Thanks for the info will certainly have a wee look. I must agree I think the areas I've visited takes some beating.

Is'nt there a site near a beach on the opposite side to Port Logan? Quite isolated, I should imagine

Sandhead is opposite port logan and also portpatrick in that area, one near port william was beside the pub - the cock inn- not sure if it's still there. also the three lochs near kirkcowan. burrowhead at isle of whithorn, 2 at creetown - one called castle cary the other creetown caravan park - i think. remember down that way travelling from place to place isnt a problem with traffic, in a car you average a mile a minute, therefore creetown to newton is less than 10mins as only 7 miles. we forget the lack of congestion as i have been driving around central belt for last 20 years i just never get right timescales for travelling due to volumes of vehicles here!

The more i think there are plenty of sites in the area i've never used any as parents still live there - planning in opposite their house for another site - 2 miles out of newton - must be demand!
