Sorry. Forgot..... Yes you can cycle along the towpath. Lots of people who use this site bring bikes. for this very purpose. The towpath is dead flat except at locks of course BUT IT AIN'T VERY WIDE. So take care not to oversubscribe to the local ale at a lockside pub unless you fancy an early bath.

Cheers for that Hookup sounds good to me,we go away on Sat but are looking for some fairly local weekend sites after, went to my cousins on Sat in Highley and saw the sign for Halfway house found the pub but nothing seemed to be there, we rode past for miles and came back but didn't actually go on pub, we went to the the Stanmore site, bit expensive but lovely site might try that as well.have looked at the Grindley brook site on the web but there's nothing like someone who's been there for a diff. view, we like cycling the canal paths I don't like roads.!! and you need somewhere within 50m to have a decent weekend so will let you know when we've been ,that's if I haven't been in the canal not that we drink of course
The site at halfway house is just behind the pub yard.. My review is posted and so are those from other members. We all agree .Would be a site to steer clear of even if the pitch prices were reduced by 50% . Enjoy your weekend at Canal side.. Give our regards to Joan & Trevor. If they ask who we are just say.Robs Mum loves the Oil Lamps.
As we are talking Whitchurch, there is a C&CC certificated site, Blackberry Cottage I think it's called, is actually listed under Prees in the Big Sites Book, very nice we thought. Not near the canal though and the nearest pubs are in the town although there is a cafe by the garage on the main road.

Yes but you see when you have had children and they have grown up sometimes you want a little bit of me time without them running around that may seem selfish but having brought up 3 of them I for myself am happy to say yes to Adults only!! but that's not to say we don't like children round all the time

Hi. Check out the reviews of Canal Side at Grindley Brook.Only 59 miles from you. Brill site. One of our favourites. We have a van but the tent field is usually quite busy.Best of luck with your search
Must say I disagree with you on this one, we were camping (tent) there with a few friends last August BH and were made to feeel most unwelcome (see our reviews on the site in the reviews section). Quite a nice site - bit of noise from the A41 we thought, but we weren't received well at all - not a site we will be returning too.

It is your right to disagree with me.If you read the section you will find that of the 21 club members who
have reviewed this site, 20 of them(myself included) found it excellent and only one didn't. 20/1 FOR is probably why it is a very popular site.
