Can anyone give any advice on how to source nice friendly family orientated sites without the Butlins feel or busy bars - initially in Cornwall as I need to stay close to home (St Ives), ideally within an hours drive as I'm just about to take my baby twins single handed!? I will in a few months venture further afield once I've gained my confidence with taking the little men!
I've had a look at links through the campsite search above and a bit overwhelmed with it as there's so many and I'd rather go on recommendation if possible.
Also, is there any publication I can receive and is it worth me joining the caravan and camping club or is that awfully expensive?

Hi Murfus - PerranSprings is now on my list, looks great thank you.
JJ's - can't find much info on Gunvenna, can you tell me anything about it, what does it have there for children? Thank you!
Do keep the suggestions coming - want to do lots of local traveling.
It's about 5 miles from Port Isaac. The site is clean, level to slightly sloping and the facilities are meticulously clean with plenty of water points and EHUs.
For the Kids there is a small swimming pool, a games room and a play area with slides and swings etc and one of those plastic activity tree thingies with a face that frightened me !!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot, the showers are free and there are Laundry facilities also.

Don't take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive !!!.
Can't help with your Cornwall seach but re the Camping & Caravanning Club - may be worth it.
Its £35 ish to join for a year and you get a fab camp site guide. The sites always have decent toilets and showers and they have a quite a good no noise after 11pm rule. You kind of always know you'll get a decent site.
It's not everybody's cup of tea but personally I would recommend them.

March - Bamburgh
Easter - Low Park Wood CC Kendal
May - Yellowcraigs CC North Berwick
June - Wharfedale CC Grassington
JJ's - many thanks indeed, sounds lovely and also added to my list of one's to do! I'm torn as to which one to start with but I'm looking for several sites as I have now enlisted a friend to also buy a tent and keep me company as my little fellas are a way off saying anything other than ga ga goo goo (ha ha! - she's going to have the shock of her life having never camped, particularly as we have 5 children between us! OMG when I say it like that even I am a little daunted!) However, it will be good to have various child friendly sites for short breaks over the forthcoming years.
Gail - thank you so much for your thoughts about the C&C club, I think it's certainly worth it in that case - do you know how child friendly they are or what they have to entertain them - playgrounds etc? Do they have guidance in their guide? Sorry, questions questions questions!

They are usually very friendly - I think they usually do have playgrounds, although I don't have children so have to confess I haven't really noticed them. There are always children about on the sites.
I know quite a few sites have family bathrooms and such.
I've looked on their site - this should give you some idea !
