Hi all,

Any recommendations for places near the sea or on the beach? We don't really mind what coast we go to but it would need to be no more than approx 1 1/2 hours from Derby/Burton area. There will be a smallish group of adults going 5/6/7 July so we would need somewhere that won't be fully booked yet. The facilities aren't too important as long as there are places to eat and a few things to do nearby.

I've looked at the Lincolnshire coast on the campsite search but haven't got time to search through all the listings to find a place near the coast.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Lyn

Thanks Mick I've had a look and it looks nice but I should have mentioned we will be in tents. It also looked a bit expensive for us as we are not members of the CC.

Thanks anyway though.

In the opposite direction, and I don't know if it would be too far - Valley of the Rocks near Holyhead on Anglesey, has a pub next door and a nice beach just down the road. Plenty of other sites in Wales of course. Cheap, £9.50 for 2 of us in a caravan with electric.

Thanks Mrs Bonce - it looks really nice and I've put it in my virtual brochure as a potential future destination but I'm afraid it will be too far for this trip as the AA routeplanner is putting it at just over 3 hours.

Thanks

Skegness water park has a large area for tents so there should be no problem pitching together. Its in Ingoldmells 10 mins from Skegness town centre. There are plenty of pubs around, there is a masssive market area, huge funfair and its 10 mins walk from the beach. Has a bit of something for most eople.

I have written a review if you want a read up on it. Skegness Water Leisure Park , Skegness Campsite

That looks brilliant Bill. I have emailed the main organiser with all the details. I think we would really like it there.

Your review is very helpful - although more of an essay!

Really appreciate your help - thanks.
