Hi, taking my son who's 10 and his friend camping next weekend and they want to go to a site where they can fish.I would like the site to be quiet, (no clubs or entertainment) and if at all possible an hours drive from the Glasgow area. At a push we would travel two hours but with a car sick dog on board, the shorter the journey the better lol. Thanks in advance

It may be worth having a look at the camp site search for Hoddom Castle at Eccleflechan just over the border in Scotland Nr Annan, it is dog friendly, it is on the river Annan, they have a golf course, I am almost positive that you can get a fishing permit but have a look at the web site for more detail. It is our favourite site, it has a bar and does meals. Great stuff.
hi Bruces cave nr Gretna, is a quiet site with a pond which you can fish for a small daily feeand a small river where fishing is free.there is a playpark and shop and the owners lovey

The best site I've been to for fishing, walking and scenery, with a pretty wee village 10 minutes walk away that allows children and dogs in their pubs is Strathyre just 9 miles north of Callander. Outstanding for scenery and plenty of off-lead walks for dogs in the immedate area. The site is basic with no clubs etc (suits me fine) with a river running past it, ideal for the children to paddle about in (under supervision of course as some bits can get a bit deep especially if its been raining).

The Gart in Callander. Fishing in the small stretch of river in the site is included in the pitch fee. There is a good undercover playpark and a large sports field away from the pitches. A secure site from childrens point of view as it is fully fenced with one road in/out.
I stay there a lot and as well as a nice site it is handy for all the Trossachs has to offer
Forgot to mention the Camping Club site at Killin, frr fishing and there is boat and cycle hire in the town. Of course there is a non member supplement ( unless you already are ! ) but it may be worth joining the club depending on how long you stay.
I think it is equal to about 5 nights fee to join so any more is a saving
