Anyone been to bolberry farm in south devon, going on saturday, taking our wellies, and plenty of booze, incase the rain keeps up. Don,nt know what the 2 dogs will do though, they are entered in a dog show in exeter on the wednesday, and it will be a hell of a job to keep them clean till then. Oh well its a break from work.   Penny

We tossed a coin between Bolberry and Little Cotton at Dartmouth as we could not make up our minds. Little Cotton won.

From the reviews I am sure Bolberry will be lovely. The area is stunning and lots of boat rides. We got the public bus (the no 93, I think) from Dartmouth to Kingsbridge and got the boat to Salcombe. The bus journey was a double decker along the coast. Whether by bus or car it is a beautiful drive and Tor Cross and Slapton well worth a stop for lunch.

We love the site so much we travel down there at least twice a year from London. It is very spacious and the views are fabulous.

With all the rain we have been having the doggy walk should be plenty grassy enough, rather than muddy - it is on a slope. They are very doggy-friendly and provide bags and bins.

The owners are the most friendly people you could imagine, and drive around each morning to each pitch to check everyone is OK.

The nearest pubs/minimart are in Malborough, about a mile away, and there is a large Somerfield supermarket in Kingsbridge, about 10 minutes drive away. The beach is about a 25 minute walk down into Hope Cove where there is a pub and postoffice. The beach is doggy friendly at Hope Cove, although this year they have imposed an 'only on leads' rule. North Sands at Salcombe is also doggy friendly.

Kingsbridge has a lovely shopping street and the Cookworthy Museum, as a wet weather option, and Salcombe is lovely for walking around. Can't beat sitting on Whitestrand Quay with a portion of Fish and Chips from the local takeaway (which sells every type of takeaway food you could imagine) and watching the sailing boats come and go.

If you're travelling up to Exeter, we have found the quickest way to get out onto the A38, and avoid potential traffic problems in Totnes) is to go through Loddiswell - leave Malborough on the A381 following signs towards Totnes. There is a junction where the A381 has to give way to a minor road (B3196). Turn left here towards Loddiswell, following the road for several miles till you come to a T-junction (by a BP garage?). Turn right (still on the B 3196) and follow to the end, where you have a 'crooked' junction although you end up going straight ahead on the A3121 and you get signs to the A38 from there. Campsite to A38 is about 30 - 40 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Went to Bolberry last year and had a good time, but have been on better sites. It is rather exposed in places and can get VERY windy!!  - also some pitches arent level - tricky if you are camping The owners are friendly but to be honest we didnt see that much of them.- certainly not a daily visit to our pitch

You have to pay for everything there from showers to dishwashing water - but as the water is pumped from a spring i suppose thats fair enough. Loos are clean but ihave seen better.

On the whole we thought it a good site but not the site everyone raves about. Dont think we will go back.
