Hi...new bloke on the block here...hello all...hope you're having fun....I am a cycle camper...and this will be my first tour. I am off to Norfolk and Suffolk this August. I only have a small one man tent and my Bicycle. I had planned to just ride and roll up at camp sites as I go along but th ethought occurred to me that I may need to book in advance even for such a small tent in August. What say you? Should I book in advance?

I wouldn't need more than 4msq max pitch and have no need for electric hook ups etc.

Hi cyclebloke and welcome to ukcs! I think it would be better to book as most campsites get full with it being the summer holidays.  Although if this weather keeps up, they will all be empty Good luck and have fun!

Hi Cyclebloke and welcome. Agree with Kate, you should book as sites get busy. If you're planning on going over the August Bank Holiday some sites require a minimum 3 night booking so shop around if necessary. Enjoy!

Welcom to UKCS.

I would book just to be on the safe side with August being a busy time of year (use the Campsite search facility on here).  Also being on a bicycle you don't want to have to cycle miles looking for somewhere else if the site you pick is full.

Good Luck & hope you have a safe "cycling" journey!!

Thankyou.

I will book up a few then just to be safe....I hadn't planned on spending more than one night at each site...but I'm flexible soI'm thinking book up a couple of sites on the main route and see what happens.

Thanks for helping me.

Welcome to UKCS - you can usually squeeze on but August is busy and as someone says, on a back it could be a trek to another site, best not risk it,  How many miles per day are you planning for?

If you are a member of the camping and caravanning club, try their holiday rally at wells next the sea, showers and toilets in the school and no need to book

..it's difficult to say on the distances as it depends so much on the weather (especially the wind). With a fully loaded bike (four panniers plus a tent) I am looking at around 70-80 km a day ish....somedays more, others a lot less if I get wet, tired and fed up lol!

I dont belong to any organizations yet...but that rally sounds fun...Wells is on my list of overnighters and as a solo traveller it's always fun to meet other for a chat etc

I have no time limits, I'm a free spirit so to speak....so I can ride with the wind so to speak and may decide to stay longe rif I like the place or move along quicker...it's all down to how I feel a the time...

...if any of youkind people see a bloke on a green Daws galaxy with orange pannier bags give me a wave!
