We want a campsite in Brecon, we prefer something not too organised but have a 2 yr old so it can't be too rowdy either. We really want to be within walking distance of a pub/cafe/child friendly restaurant and would like some sort of play area. I don't really want to be on the edge of a main road or anything, we want to enjoy the peace and wildlife etc, saying that we don't want to feel like we have to obey too many rules either. My ideal would be to be on a working farm as my son LOVES tractors and animals. If it was just the two of us, we quite like to rough it but we are having to compromise now (pesky kids).
We don't want much do we, I have got a feeling what we want probably doesn't exist!Even if you can't suggest a perfect match please send me some recommendations that match some of my wish list!
Thanks for your help.

You could have a look at Brynich which is about a mile outside Brecon.
It does have plenty of rules however and is a well organised site , but its also very child friendly. The play park even has a real tractor for the kids to play on.
Probably not what you`re after to be honest but it might make a decent base for spending time in the Beacons perhaps.
Thanks a lot, they both look really nice for their own reasons and I am sure we would have a fantastic stay in either of them, this leaves a bit of a dilemma!

Just come back from Brynich with a 3yr old, he loved it! so dud we, nice play area we could see from our pitch, play barn (indoor soft play ) and restarant on site, pub within walking distance too! Great views of brecons peaks and an immaculate site with family bathrooms if you should so desire and very friendly staff. We did'nt pick up on the strictness and rules as others have?
Don't want to add to your dilemma, sorry, but another nice one is Pencilli Castle.
Best wishes.

another vote for Brynich... its wonderful for kids, walks through the woods and steam with play equipment dotted here and there. Playbarn and well stocked shop and a restaurant all there. Its a walk into brecon ( about 15 mins) which is pretty pleasant so long as you arent in a rush!
Its also very quiet at night and well patrolled - rowdy behviour is a no no and weve had several fantastic stays here

Thanks everyone, we have plumped for Fforest Fields in the end, it must be the hippy in me! It looks lovely and exactly what we want except for the play area, it looks like the surroundings/nature will be good enough instead.
