Hi

Booked to stay at Rowntree Park for six nights 23rd July onwards ( I know it in't for a while yet!) we are arriving at the site from another site and after our stay are going to another site.......what is worrying me is that part of the site is closed at present and they are asking people to call 24 hours before your stay which is no good to us.....do I either wait and see if the weather is kind and the river levels drop or try and book Beechwood Grange for that time period........I really don't know what to do.....we chose this site so we didn't have to use our car....

Thanks Sue

Try ringing Rowntree Park and seeing how long they think it'll be before they fully reopen, then you will be in a better position to know whether to book elsewhere or not.

Just a thought.

Hiya Sue,

Have you been to Beechwood Grange, I would prefer that site, it is very roomy compared to Rowntree. I know that one is right in the middle so no car needed but Beechwood Grange is only a very short drive from Park & Ride, with the weather as it is I would change sites, at least then you know where you are heading before you set off on your holiday...

Good luck

Shirley

Thanks for the replies.......I would perfer to swap to Beechwood but my OH won't.......has his heart set on that site I shall phone Rowntree in the next couple of days and speak with a warden.....if I'm not happy I shall just have to put my foot down and try and change his mind.....which won't be easy........

Hi Sue, why don't you try us: YCP York Caravan Park http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6567

We are closer to York City Centre than Beechwood, and there is a bus that stops directly outside the site every 30 mins that will take you into town. If you have bikes, you can cycle (takes approx 10mins).

We are a brand new site that opened this year, not a lot of people know about us yet, but feedback has been very good. You can click through to our website from our listing - you will find information on location, facilities, prices and some photos etc.

Andrew.

We were at York last weekend and the water levels are now almost back to normal so I can't see flood warnings as the reason for the CC keeping some pitches closed, we were also there 3 weeks ago when it was really high and the site was still flood free.

Due to the weather warning I decided to look on the CC website and came across an alert for sites closed or partly closed due to all the bad weather and Rowntree Park was listed as being partly closed........thanks Jim for your message maybe we will be ok and thanks Andrew your site looks very nice so will keep in mine if not this time some time in the future.
