As a family we are new to all this and need some help.

We have a camper van and a caravan and want some advice about which is best to join - The Caravan Club or the Caravan & Camping Club? Can anyone offer advice at which has the best benefits, sites, prices etc

Thank you for your message Kate. We can't wait to get going. We have a site booked that we found on here last week so off we all go next weekend!

All our friends think we have gone mad!!! My partner and i have bought a caravan because my sister and husband bought a campervan!  We are both young (ish!!) couples and think its a great way to have cheap holidays and see lots of different places whenever we want.

I hope someone can help us with the club details

Welcome to the site Littlehorse.

We are members of both and have used both since we started camping/caravanning this year and basically have had our money back in savings on the fees.

In my opinion the Caravan and Camping Club is a bit more "down to earth" but by joining both there is a huge choice of CC & C&CC Sites PLUS all the CS's and CL's to choose from.  If I had to choose just one though, I think it would probably be the Caravan and Camping Club.

Hi Liz

It really depends on what you are looking for.  Both clubs pretty much offer the same kind of things although the Caravan Club is purely dedicated to caravans.  I belonged to the Camping & Caravan Club and my Dad helped relaunch and belonged to the Caravan Club, so I know about both!

Both have great sites at good prices.  From a purely personal point of view, I would say the Camping & Caravanning Club is more laid back while the Caravan Club sites have more rules.  Benefits about with both such as insurance deals, special equipment offers and more.

However, the Caravan Club has been running longer and appears more efficient in terms of the website, magazine, etc.  But if you want to get involved with your club and make a difference, then that is easier to do at the Camping & Caravanning Club. So, to hark back to my earlier comment, it really depends on what you are looking for, a club where you gain maximum benefits and belong to a long established, formal organisation or a club where you still get benefits and great sites but have a chance to join in and make a difference, in the true 'club' sense of the word.

With regard to site standards, etc., there really is little difference.  I hope that helps!

Thanks for your advice,

I think we will give the caravan & camping one a go - then there should be more benfits for my sister & husband with thier campervan too.

Hopefully we can make good use of all the benefits.

Thank you all again

Liz

Hi, I think Sally has it just about spot on. I do prefer to use the C&CC to book a site as the Caravan Club got it wrong when they changed their  website bookings but nevertheless they are both very well run and keep their sites and pitches to a high standard,

I think some people are getting mixed up over the names of the respective clubs. One is the Camping and Caravanning Club and the other is the Caravan Club. A few people are talking about the Caravan & Camping club - but which one are they referring to?

We are members of the C&CC as we were tent campers for 6 years before getting our caravan and have stayed with them. We have never had any of the problems which some people have had regarding grumpy managers etc. I can't comment on the CC as we have not been to any of their sites.

We have also been in both clubs. The downside to the C & CC is that you are allocated a pitch whereas with the CC you are given the choice of available pitches and are normally able to walk/drive round first to find the one you like.

Also, I must admit we have found the facilities superior on the CC Sites. However, to be fair it is over twelve months since we used either.

I have found a mix of wardens and indeed other campers/caravanners in both clubs and can't honestly say we have found one more 'stuck up' than the other.

I'm a member of the Caravan Club only because its cheaper to pay the annual membership than thier non member fees on our favourite site (we don't even own a Caravan!).

I have just last week become a member of the C&CC as they have a few sites which are cheap - ideal for a weekend away.  Yet to use any of their sites but hoping the weather picks up soon so I can get out there!
