Hi, i live i Portsmouth and I dont think the Southsea site is up to much The comment on the camp site bit (search the forum) is pretty accurate. TBH its not somewhere you can see from the road so Ive never seen it but have been to the club house for a wedding reception as anyone can use it. its ok if you want to use it as a base, can get a bus just up the road. Its a bit scuffy and close to the nudist beach although the main beach runs the other way . Dont know what they are like but theres a couple in Fareham (ive seen signs when out driving) which is a 10-15 min drive to Portsmouth. Hayling is ok but theres not much to do there and to get to Portsmouth you can either drive back up through Hayling(windy road which is busy in Summer) back along the A27 and into Portsmouth (about half an hour) or there is the Hayling Ferry which takes you to Portsmouth (takes about 5 mins) but you will have to get transport from there to the main Part of Portsmouth as it drops you at a small out of the way harbour with about a 10 min walk to a bus stop or you could get a taxi. Theres a site at West Wittering which isnt far from a most fabulous beach with lifeguards, shop, cafe etc but not much else, this again is about a half hour drive to Portmouth. Chichester area is quite nice, and its about half hour to Portsmouth straight along the A27, (straight run). . You must visit Gunwharf quays while youre here and go up the Spinnaker Tower, its a designer shopping outlet place with restaurants, pubs, comedy club, bowling alley and cinema, it overlooks a harbour with lots of boats and its next to the Naval Part which has the Victory, The Warrior and The Mary Rose (if your into old boats). Cant think of anything else at the moment but I know the area very well as Ive lived here a long time and am a sales rep and cover the South so know all the roads and areas very well so if theres anything you want to know please ask, Im always on here!! (oops just realised you stayed at Southsea so ignore that bit)

Kingfisher Park, Stokes Bay, Gosport. Gets quite busy in the school hols. 10 mins from town and ferry to Pompy. Buses stop outside, Taxi is about £5-60 to ferry. Has bar, fairly cheap restuarant, kids room, clean loos, 10 min walk to beach (stoney) Take about 30 to 40mins by road depending on traffic out of Gosport. I use it a lot, very friendly site, can get a bit noisy at weekends with kids Etc, but you can pitch away from the noisy bits.
