I'm visiting Pittenweem in August for an arts fesitval and am keen to camp in a tent whilst there. The only local campsite doesn't accept tents and several others further afield seem to be big 'holiday parks' which I don't fancy personally. Does anybody know of a pleasant quiet site that accepts tents in the Fife area? A nearby beach would be ideal, but not essential!
Many thanks,
Fiona.

I used to live behind there and the noise was unbearable!! They also have mega huge car boot sales which are noisy and busy with cars...
I would go to sites in or near Elie if I were you...or Cairnsmill in St Andrews. Maybe shortcircuit just got lucky with the timing of thier trip but it is not a quiet place to be - honestly!
This is Cairnsmill and another good one to search for is Shell Bay Caravan site - they have upgraded it all recently and is super. It overlooks the firth of forth and you can se all the way to Edinburgh! It is right on the beach and about three miles to pittenweem arts festival!
You do Sauchope Links Caravan Park a great injustice with your posting and are way over the top
Last month the Mega boot sale consisted of about 20 stalls, hardly mega.
The reacetack is a 1/4 mile sprint and again is not a problem. We have stayed at the Kart track which is nearer than Crail and have had no problems. Have also stayed at the campsite and as you are at a considerabley lower level that the above you do not hear anything.
Both Shell Bay and Cairnsmill are nice sites but a bit remote

As said before Shell Bay is a good site also ther is one at St Monnans (1.5 miles from Pittinweem) with a nice beach and Elie has a great beach. Have fun
Woodland Gardens at Lundin Links is a very clean and very small campsite about 15/20 minutes away from Pittenweem by car.It sits on the side of a small hill overlooking the Firth of Forth 15 minutes walk from Lower Largo, which has a lovely beach. The downside is they don't take children under 14.
We have just returned from our 8 night stay at the Sauchope site in Crail.
It is the BEST site we have stayed at to date. It had rock pools galore for the kids, beach walks for the whole family and the dog, park on site and a bigger one just 2 min walk, and the heated pool.
Have left a review for it and we have already booked to go back next summer.
Yes there was racing on the Sunday, but we were out till later and then OH was quite happy to go and join the crowd that were watching it for nothing, on top of a disused pillbox on site!
------------- My photos allow you to see what I saw at the time that I took it....No messing.
