I notice Vikki,  that you are in Grimsby. Will you be crossing the Humber Bridge? I just wondered what the toll is (as i'll be crossing it shortly) , for a car and trailer. I also noticed that with  a good pair of binoculars you may be able to see the sight in Withernsea ,you're only about 10 miles away as the crow flies and around 30 miles by road, or are you swimming over lol Have a good time mi duck

park resorts sites are usually great for the kids as they have the clubs etc....we used to go to them but they no longer let tents or trailer tents onto electric pitches !! which leaves you with haven...who wanted £400 for a weeks tent pitch !!! must be joking.

Will be ringing park resorts about the electric hook up as that is what we have booked for the tent. Thanks for the advice.

I spent all my holidays as a child on that site, but it was just called Trailer Park then and it was all statics, but the very old style not todays modern ones!  Night trips to the toilet block and showers etc. Maybe it was preparing me for camping so many years on!! I have some very happy memories and when I saw park resorts had taken it over I went to have a look.  It looked quite nice, somewhere we might consider for a quick weekend away, especially with it having a pool and stuff.

Hello Vikki4996 and welcome.

We have been to Withernsea for the "Half Day" or so whilst visiting Hornsea. I can't comment on Withernsea sands but Hornsea aint bad for stuff to interest the kids etc.

The last time I used the bridge a car was £2.70 and car and trailer was £4.90..
I think it depends on weight and length ????

Hi sueandjohn, are you just on about that site not allowing tents to have EHU or park resorts in general, as we have just been on a park resorts site in the IOW with our tent with EHU, i dont see what difference it makes what unit u use(van,tt, tent) . If you look at the website it says about no tents on ehu pitches, but take no notice and call them to do your booking.

Going to say give them a ring - it's surprising the difference a phone call can make.    Somebody else posted this about their TyMawr site.   Looked on the internet - no EHU, phone the site, EHU not a problem.

Hi  All

We have just come back from Withernsea Sands Park Resorts site.  We spent a week there in our tourer - me, my other half and three children - ages 13, 7 and 5.  I have to say that it was the most boring holiday ever.  We had been to Ty Mawr Park Resorts site in N Wales a few weeks before and it was all hustle and bustle - the kids loved it.  Thinking we would like to visit another Park Resorts site, we chose Withernsea Sands.  The site is very small.  The toilet and shower block made me baulk every time I went in (dirty, ancient, lights on timer, showers out of order, etc.)  The ground was extremely bumpy and even sleeping in the awning on an air bed was really uncomfortable.  There is a park area but it has no swings or slides - just a few climbing frame type of things.  The swimming pool is just slightly bigger than our bath at home - with no slides or anything - just a small square really!  On-site there is a laundry, shop (not much stock and quite expensive) and the clubhouse which has a small arcade and the club, which I thought was really funny because it was the smallest club I've ever seen - no dance floor - maximum capacity approx. 50 people and the entertainment was atrocious.  The bar at the club was very expensive - £3.50 for 2 small cups juice for the kids.  Withernsea itself is nice and quaint - a small town centre and a nice beach - but after 5pm everything shuts and everyone disappears and it becomes like a ghost town.  We had to travel everyday to keep entertained - Hornsea is about an hours drive through winding, narrow, single-track country lanes, which is fine if you have your wits about you -  Scarborough is roughly 2 hours drive, but to be honest I've never done so much driving in my life!  Oh, and the farmer on the neighbouring field has a regular spray of his crops with the ole fertiliser which has everyone checking their shoes, nappies, etc. until you realise where the stench is from.

Good luck - you will need it !!
