Do we just lose our money if the campsite cancels because of weather?

I should think they will give you your money back as they aren't keeping their contract to you.

Just be careful how you approach this situation. In my view if a campsite phone you and say they can't accomodate you, say because of flooding, they are unable to fore fill their side of the contract with you and should return your money without question. However there was a post on here a few days ago where the person was in the same situation but accepted the campsites offer of moving the booking to another date. Having had second thoughts this person went back to the campsite expecting to get their money back but the campsite said no because essentually they considered it as a new booking.  It might also be worth looking at the Terms and Conditions of booking. I appreciate this sounds a bit bleak but its worth considering. I am sure the majority of campsites will deal with this situation perfectly fairly but there maybe some out there who will try and wriggle out.

David
