Me and my other half are thinking of going camping with the kids, 4 and 2, during the week of 4-11 August.

We're looking for a site that has a pool, a pub and a kids play area....really trying to convince the other half that this is a good idea so if anyone has recommendations of places that have availability that would be great!

We don't mind too much where we go but don't want to drive too far from Northampton - say 2-3 hours tops. Also I'd rather go for say 3-4 days but if we have to go for the week that is probably ok.

Any help appreciated...

hi and welcome to ukcs. youre best bet is to use the campsite search facility at the top of the page, most have honest reviews from fellow campers.

good luck and enjoy wherever you go.

Thanks, I had a quick look at that but you have to choose an area. Will keep looking through it though.

cheers

Your best bet is probably to choose a Camping & Caravanning Club site as you can be sure the facilities will be clean and well looked after. Also they insist on quiet between 11pm and 7am so you and the children are likely to get some sleep. Most of them have kids play areas but very few have pools though and many have a pub within easy walking distance.

Wherever you choose enjoy your trip and hope it is the first of many.

To be honest, I think you may have left it too late to book that sort of site, with pool etc.

We are going here that week but it's in Somerset so may be a bit far for you.

I haven't been yet but it seems a good family site but not quite a Haven or similar.

I've spoken to Searles in Hunstanton and they still have spaces. I've not stayed there but family have and they rate it. It has indoor/outdoor pools etc and there's quite a lot to do in Hunstanton for kids (even in the rain!).

We were going to visit this weekend but life got in the way

Hunstanton is not too far from Northampton - about 2 hours-ish.

Hope you find somewhere,

We stayed at searles a couple of years back, we didn't camp on that occasion but stayed in a static, we had a look round the camping & touring area and have to say it was spotless...the touring facilities were really good as were all the facilities on site, indoor and outdoor pools, play area's, bar etc...the only thing I remember was kids not being allowed in the bar after 6pm which was a bit of a downside on a family site..may have changed now though....
