Has anyone got any recommendations on campsites on Anglesey, as I have checked the reviews on here for most of the campsites on Anglesy, and i am no further forward than when i started.
I am going away in August with the family, and some friends - and we are looking for a site which would fit into this criteria;
- Not too far from a beach (but not necessarily on top of one)
- Be suitable for younger children (collectively we have an 9,8 and two 6 yr olds)
- Not too big that we cant let the children go off and explore(so no Bars/Entertainment complex)
- Have a small on site shop
- Fairly decent toilets/showers
- Level pitches (we are taking tents)
-
Campfire's permitted
I know this is probably a massive wish list - but i think with the wealth of campsites on Anglesey, there is probably just a site like this.
Please help before we go out of our minds trying to decide on where to go.
Thanks for taking time to read this
------------- why haven't they invented silent opening zips??!!

I can recommend Plas Uchaf in Benllech, Anglesey, just got back today, I also went in May, and have booked a further 3 nights in August. They don't allow open fires, but I had a small one going in one of those large throw a way bbqs, there is plenty of dry wood in the woods or just over the fence. I don't think you will find many , if any, that allow open fires. also there is no on site shop, but the local shops are only a 5 minute drive, if that, as is the beach, which is a very long sandy beach, that also has some kind of kids entertainment going on during the summer. also they do not overcrowd and only allow you to pitch around the perimeter of the fields, so the kids have got a big area to play, as you sit back and watch them, anyway read my review on the left.
Deffo worth a visit, if you can get in.

This is my review from 2003 : This is a very well laid out site, very nicely kept - close mown grass, toilets immaculate. There is a good dog-walk at the beginning of the site, screened off by trees. The pitches are all pretty level, which made a nice change. There is a small tennis court, swings, table tennis tables but no bar or anything so it is quite quiet. My only complaint would be that there are no washing cubicles in the toilet blocks, but, hey-ho, you just make other arrangements - or shower!
We haven't been back, as it happens, but only because we've found a CL instead.
When we were there, we were the only people on one of the fields and, when we got back, a couple of girls had pitched their tent so close to us we could have reached out and touched them. I think our talking disturbed them because you could hear them complaining and tutting. There are some strange people around!

Sorry - only just seen this as we've been away (on Anglesey actually!). My username was Ceri when I posted that review.
The review was for Plas Uchaf (as mentioned in the previous post to mine). We did like it but, having driven round it on Saturday, decided it wouldn't be our cup of tea at all. We're looking for a site for a rally and thought it might be a possibility.
Hope you're booked in somewhere nice Paul.
