Over the last few years we have stayed for a week in a static at each of Blue Dolphin, Lakelands Grange-over-sands, Golden Sands Mablethorpe and Wild Duck Great Yarmouth (the last one for 2 weeks) and far and away the worst of the lot was Blue Dolphin. Noise, poor food (not that any of them are in the gourmet category), filthy pool that was closed more than open to be cleared of broken glass, dirty van, dingy entertainment area, etc. The rest were actually quite nice - and we had no problems with dirty vans elsewhere.

Before this we also stayed in our own touring van (before we sold it) at Burnham-On-Sea. You can see the difference - campers are pretty much ignored and have to suffer poor and dirty facilities while most attention is given to static dwellers who presumably represent a possible future sale for a static purchase.

Basically, with Haven - it really depends on where you go, and Lakelands and Golden Sands are always mentioned as being 2 of the better sites.

Not impressed with Burnham on Sea this time. The pitch was a good size so it was a good start but the toilet block was very poor this time. My OH found the shower dirty just after they had been "cleaned". It looked like they were looked at no more than once a day but cant be sure as no official cleaning times given.

The entertainment was mixed. The kids shows spent too much time advertising extras for example a £1 chocolate bar after a story about a sweet factory and juggling balls / clown wigs before and during the circus performance. A picnic with Bradley cost £3.50 for a "cooked meal". This ended up being either a burger, fishfingers or 4 overcooked chicken nuggets and a few chips. A drink was an extra 50p or £1.50 with a straw!

Having said that some of the entertainment was good and funny and the kids are already talking of next year. Tried to get them to go back to Unity but they prefer Rory etc to the Unity pigs. They other good news is that I will use the tesco vouchers again so spend a lot less. The week just gone cost the equvlilent of £130 for 7 nights.

I personally had a great time when we went end of July, so much so that we are going away Bank Hol Monday for 5 days. Having only recently been to haven IM not sure how old they are, yes they were a bit dirty, the ground mostly, but considering the weather was attrocious, I think that needed to be taken into considertion, (i.e, when you get out the shower, take an old towel to stand on).

The entertainment, most people shoudl know before they book up wha its going to be like, if people dont like the Butlins kind of entertainment, then Haven is'nt for them. The entertainment is all about the kids, therefore, if my daughters is enjoying herself and having a great time, then so are we. I think its partly to do with attitude as well, go with an open mind. yes its true about the Restaurant, the wait is really long, far better and cheaper to prepare all your own stuff. Cant comment on the pool, as we did'nt use it, but will next week, so will give another honest review when I get back.

This is our first time using EHU at Dolphin, as last time we were put on the overflow site.

I think its up to you to make your own opinion, and not let others influence your decision, by all means, take their point of view on board as everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I would hate to upset anyone by saying otherwise (as they give me so much advice on loads of camping stuff) but its your choice.

my personal opinion is i think blue dolphin is alot better than alot of the haven  sites i have been to apart from the toilets/shower block .... no toilet roll  sh..t  on wall when finished in shower do not put towel on floor it stinks of p..s apart from that perfect

 im thinking of going this weekend might take a solar shower does anyone think itll be any good  . it wont get that hot and burn me will it   lol

We're off to Greenacres at the end of the month.    Stayed on a static there a couple of years ago, and couldn't fault the place,   The van was spotless.    Facitliteis good and the kids entertainment first class.     The toddler section of the pool was lovely and warm.     Direct beach access was a plus.     As the weather was good, we spent a lot of time on the beach, and came home with enough money for our first tent.

We've camped at Lakeland a couple of times, and on both occasions had no complaints about the showers.    OK last time we left a day early, but Haven themselves can not be blamed for the awrful weather.

The have also stayed at Carla Gran in a static - again immaculate, and decent children's entertainment.    Not impressed with Hafan Y Mor though.  

I think that Haven can vary greatly from site to site.

Just hoping that Greenacres is still good - as the kids have been going on about seeing Bradley and Rory for ages.
