Can anyone recommend a Campsite in Wales (Pref South) which is REALLY near to a Dog Friendly beach.  We have 2 children and one dog, and would like the beach to be walking distance.  I have done a search, but can only find one near a beach which allows dogs.

We would consider North Wales and North Devon too - at the end of the day, County isn't as important as beach.  The boys love surfing too, so good surf would be a bonus, but we realise that to get ALL requirements is virtually impossible.

Thanks  :o)))

Sarah is Pembrokeshire too far?  we have fantatsic beeches here, most of which are either dog friendly or have dog areas.  Where ever you camp here you would be within just a few miles of beeches.  Tenby might be a bit different, but there are 2 beeches there, and I think one is at least partially dog friendly.

Try this one at Wiseman's Bridge, near Saundersfoot.  The beach is literally across the road.  The pub on the beach front serves food and is dog friendly too.  Don't think it would be any good for surfing but maybe Saundersfoot beach would be better for that (about a 20 min walk away) but I don't think dogs are allowed in summer so you'd have to split up.

Sarah, didnt spot the surfing bit. Several good beaches here for that with campsites near.  Newgale, Freshwater West, Broadhaven are all dog & surfer friendly  BUT at Freshwest do warn the kids about strong rip currents.

Thanks for the details - I shall sit down later an have a good look - I'm being pestered by the little darlings at the moment!!!!

Pembrokeshire isn't too far at all - if its a good beach and site, we are prepared to go that bit further - leaving all the crowds behind!!  I apologise for my lack of knowledge about Wales, but is St Davids considered South??  Someone at work said there are some good sites there near beaches they had been to years ago.

Karen + Peter - I could sent the others off to the surf beach, take the mutt for a walk, then hurry back to relax in the pub savouring some peace and quiet!!!!  Hmmm.....  soooooooo tempting!!!!!

Technically they call us West Wales, but South will do!

Sarah, take a look for a thread about Tenby, in this forum - todays date. that will tell you a little about the area.  St. Davids is OK, but Whitesands beech doesn't allow dogs this time of year.  Newgale beech is great for surfing and haas dog areas - though to be honest it's so big and no one really polices it so dont worry, it is a pebble beach there though.

This one in Gower should be good for you, Port Eynon has surf, the campsite is almost on the sand itself, and dogs are allowed on Horton Beach which is adjoining Port eynon, 5 mins stroll. Nearby is Rhosilli also good for surfing, but most Gower beaches don't allow dogs in summer season.
