Agree with cheesy - Its a great site with loads of space, and you can watch the sun going down over the sea- some great views and the beach is a goodun too.

It gets busy and the sanitary block can get grubby due to servicing so many campers. Also make sure your pitch isnt too far away from the block - you dont want a ten minute walk to the loo. If you're ok with this it really is worth the visit (i take my showers in the evening to avoid morning rush).
Due to its position, layout and general feel it is probably the nicest site ive been to in the uk.

We went once and hated it. The views and the camping areas are lovely but the facilities are awful over a BH weekend. The toilets and showers were very dirty due to the fact that there just arent enough of them to cope with large numbers of campers and rubbish piled up all around the bins. If you are not bothered about facilities then I guess you would enjoy it but good facilities are a priority with me.

Its a great place but would agree with there not being enough facilities but get there early enough and you can get in shower.  You could have campfires last time we went which was lovely at night!

It has to be the space and lovely views that shell island is perfect for.

But facilities are getting dated - and the costs seem to keep going up !!

Also remember if the weather turns it is very exposed and you will feel it big time !!

But if the sun shines it is lovely.

Just got back from Shell Island - spent the last two weeks there. It was fairly quiet due to the weather at the beginning but slowly picked up and is getting more busier now.

Can't fault anything this holiday. Toilets and showers all clean and bins were emptied. Love the fact you can camp anywhere you like and all of your friends can join on to your camp they don't charge per pitch.

The site itself can be found just north of Barmouth just by a village called Llanbedr.

We all had a great time, hopefully going back down for the firework display later on in the year.

We go every year, I suppose you either love it or hate it as all sites. The pricing is still good value for money and is in a good location for touring around north wales.

I say go for it.

Becks.
