Hiya

Havn't been to Setthorns for several years but it was a lovely place! Very wooded and shaded, so may be better your your 7 year old in this heatwave we are having. She will hopefully meet othwe kids and go exploring, it's a good site for that! Loccally thought there are some really nice towns ie. Lyndhurst.Lymington. Lots of horses around New Forest which you often have to stop the car for so they can stroll across the road - she'll love that!

Enjoy

Have not stayed at Setthorns but drove round it to see what it was like, very impressed.  There are badgers somewhere on that site so you might  get to see one. I would check the old railway line and if you see an area that looks a  bit like a JCB had been digging you will have found the sett.  You may then be able to go back and watch the badgers. You will need to be very quite, downwind of them and make sure you are not silhouetted.  There is plenty of wild life in the forest but you have to look for it. It is also better to get away from the car parks.  Ge yourself a walk book then you won't get lost.  It is worth taking a slow drive in the dark down the two ornamental drives. You should see deer and owls.

Setthorns is a great site deep within the forest. You will love it there. The horses wander freely on the site and theres loads of wildlife to see. Just dont touch the horses or approach them - they have foals at the moment and are very protective of them - so dont leave any food out! I have seen them wander into awnings and tents for a quick snack

I thought the best bit would be to leave out food for them to get them in close to your caravan  ?
