Am going with the Dips to the Whitby - Scarborough area camping. Went last year, I think to the Haven site near Filey. It was ok, but looking at some reviews of Haven sites am put off trying again. The Dips are 7 and 13, so need to on site entertainment and things to do on site. Any recommendations? Need something fairly cheap and cheerful!!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Why on site entertainment shertbetman ? The only sites that usually have any kind of entertainment are the Haven type sites (and will end up costing you a fortune anyway).
Would it not be a better idea to choose a site within that area of Yorkshire (which is beautiful anyway) and make your own entertaiment ?
Do you have hook-up ? if so, then DVD's and playstations could be taken for the evening and you could go out for the day exploring the coast or the countryside.
Kids of that age are pretty adaptable and introducing a new experience such as exploring the countryside or coast could be a totally enlightening experience for them.
Go on, give it a try !!
I agree entirely! But last year we ended up at the Haven site by chance and they loved it!! I ( and they!) couldn't cope with more than three or four night there, but they loved the cheesiness of it! That may sound pompus, and sorry if it offends, but thats just us! We will spend the rest of our time else where ( any recommendations welcome!) Isn't there a site called the Blue Dolphin?
No problem and no offence taken. I am sure that there will be others who know of sites that will suit the requirements of what you need. (you may need to 'bump' this post back into the main page however, tomorrow daytime)
Enjoy, and good luck !!!

There are some in Robin Hoods Bay area that look really nice and I think one allows campfires, nothing like smores or marshmallows, even hotdogs cooked over a fire. Might have to make a visit myself. Just go into the search campsites here and put in town name and it will pull up the campsites.
Might I suggest Clifftop Caravan and Camping site. Its got nowt onsite but showers and loos but it is a sister site to skirlington just up the road and you can use the facilities if the weather is poor.
Lovely walk along the beach to the Skirlington or Hornsea in the other direction. Plenty of room for a game of frisbee or footie or kite flying in the field next door. Plenty of beach - when the tide is out - to have a game of cricket on. If your brave enough the sea is lovely
Forget Blue Dolphin unless you want filthy toilets and broken showers, sticky tables and general run down facilities - Flower of May site just up the road is much better.
