Were off to Wooda Farm Park in Bude Cornwall on Friday, just wondering if any one has been there and can also let us know what there is to do in the area.
There is the beach of course, so we can do some surfing and bits, but need to do other things if the weather is not too brilliant.
Any suggestions ? We have a son aged 13, and a Daughter of 8...!!
Cheers,
Stumpy..

Hiya Stumpy
We are lucky enough to live in Bude and there are loads of things to do here! All the beaches are fantastic. If you go to Sandymouth Cove, try carrying on around the coast road (North) a bit further and finding DUCKPOOL beach. There's not much parking and nothing down there other than rocks and a partly sandy beach/cove (if/when the tide is out), but it's a little 'local secret/gem'!
Newquay is about 50 mins/1 hours drive away (down the A39) if you want to go there - warning : it's heaving at the moment!!!!
If you want to head North for the day, you have Hartland (nice little cove, headland for walking and a pub at the bottom!), Bideford (not much to do there but you can walk/ride along the Tarka Trail from there), Instow (nice'ish beach, with Appledore on the opposite side) and Barnstaple (OK for shops only!). In between Instow & Barnstaple on the coastal road is a little place called FREMINGTON QUAY (it's a dead end tiny road but has passing places). Park down the end and wander along the Tarka Trail (great views across to Saunton Sands). There's a really nice little tea room (the old railway signal box!) where you can sit outside and chill!
Whatever you do, just enjoy it!
Weather's great at the moment too!

Yo, Cheers for the replies.
Kernow Camper, I am from Barnstaple (moved away from there aged 11) and my parents have now moved back and live in Bideford. I know loads of things to do around the area of Bideford and Barnstaple, but thanks for the info, as we love nothing more than having a bbq on saunton sands beach, just inside the sand dunes, watching the sun set.....bliss.
As for the Bude area, I am not too sure on things to do. My son wants to try surfing and the like, but we not too sure on the cost of it ? He is heavily into Wake boarding, snow boarding, so I suppose its natural to want to surf !!!
Where is the best place to go, value for money, as it would be a total hire of equipment? I also suppose it also depends on the tide....
Anyway thanks for the replies / advice. I will check tomorrow for any replies, we are leaving at 6.30pm tomorrow, staying in Bideford for the night, and then on to Bude for the great unknown !!!
Just can't wait....
Stumpy...

Hiya Stumpy
Small world eh, coz we used to live in Hampshire/Berkshire (Highclere/Newbury)!!!!
Not sure about prices for surfing down here but I think it's pretty reasonable (ie not as expensive as the likes of Newquay, etc). There's a big place in Bude called Advernture International and they advertise daily rates, also surf 'schools' all over the place. If you go to Widemouth Bay, they offer surfing from there too. Sorry I can't be more precise but it's not something we've attempted!!!!
Hope the weather is kind to you.
Have a great time.

Hiya Stumpy
I've been doing a bit of research for you (while I'm supposed to be working!!! - the joys of working from home eh?!).
click on www.budesurfingexperience.co.uk
They do 2.5 hours for £25 and are part of the Adventure International complex that I mentioned earlier. At least it gives you some idea on price.
For a few more ideas of what to do in Bude go to:- www.visitbude.info

Best places to eat in Bude - The Falcon Hotel and Tiandi Restaurant!!!!
I'm getting excited for you now!
Have a good one!

worth going to Sandymouth Beach and my favorite is nearby Widemouth
We went last week we went to both beaches and prefered Sandymouth-If you walk north up the beach away from the lifeguard patrolled areas( unless of course you want to swim/surf) you can have the beach to yourself
We stayed on Wooda - There is a lovely old lady in the bungalow across the road who sells free range eggs and salad veg at reasonable prices. OH had some plums off her and said they were V nice
We had V Good weather last week so just explored the local beaches/shops/cliffs
