Hello All!

Can anyone recommend any good campsites in the Cambridgeshire area?? We are taking some friends away for their first proper camping trip - to pop their camping cherries - and were hoping to find a really nice site to stay at on the weekend of the 18th/19th

There will be 6 adults, 6 children (ages 1 to 8) with 3 tents (so a tent friendly site would be a definate bonus)

Any suggestions?

I look forward to hearing all your replies

PS - we live near Peterborough, so the closer to here the better really.

We also stayed at the the Cambridge C&CC for the 1/2 term in June. The site is basic, has a small play area for children with a couple of swings and a slide.  It is close to the park & ride if you want to explore Cambridge, £4 for 2 adults and 2 children.  Oh and it is tent friendly!!!!

There is a nice site in Brampton (Huntingdon). I think it is called the Willows. It has a small play area on site and  toilet facilities. My sister stayed there recently and said it was very clean. It is situated near the river and within close walking distance of a pub. Hinchingbrooke country park is just accross the road which is lovely for the kids to walk and play in.

i'm not sayng the cambridge site is unfriendly etc, it's just that compared to most it's a huge flat field - just uninspiring for me.

we live 4 miles away and yes we've camped there as well

Hi Flood Ferry Marina is one of our favourite places

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2804 it is near to March in Cambs, by the river and has a small club with food.

It is by the river though so not sure if you would be worried with kids, good for fishing and have seen some families with older children take dinghys on the river..........the site is in the middle of the fens so amazing sunsets.

The C & CC site at St. Neots.    Great place with the river running through.  Flat, usual good C & CC facilities.   Easy 5 min walk into the town.   Only thing is that with the river it can get a bit marshy on pitches near there if lots of rain !

Hi I am not sure what they are charging for tents, as we have a caravan but give them a ring they are very helpful, the showers etc etc are very clean with plenty of hot water there have often been a few tents there when we have been there.

I think the last time we were there it was about £15 a night for a caravan with EHU and awning etc including fishing, we can't wait to go back there in Sept as the peace and tranquility make you want to return time and again.
