Help!

I have been researching the various campsites which allow tents and i just dont know which ones are good, clean and worth a visit!  So I was wondering if you could help.

We are looking for a site which will offer close proximity to the sea (or ideally right on the beach) and must allow dogs.  Some entertainment would be a bonus. We are looking at anywhere on the South coast- We were originally thinking of West Wittering, but anywhere in the New Forest, Dorset, East Devon (Cornwall is a bit too far).  Can anyone recommend one?

Many thanks.

West wittering has..

nunnington farm whichis very nice about a 15 minute walk to west beach

the site is very nice and clean and has a small animal 'farm' which is nice for the smaller kids it has a pitch for playing ball and at the end of the road bout 5 mins walk is the local park

very popular site and you have to get there early to get a pitch

Wickes farm is nice but so popular you wont get in

i know i tried fully booked till september

There is Scotts farm at east wittering

it is across the road from the beach...10 minutes walk

it has a play park and good facielties

no shop on site but village is ten minute walk away with tescos, co-op and butchers offy all you would need

but read the reviews first

bit rowdy

saying that i am off there tomorrow for a couple of days

dont need to book and guarenteed pitch

its so big ...600 pitches

Hope this helps

Most are all booked up, I've rung around a few in Dorset myself. Not many having walking access to the beach though, here's a few in East Dorset that do.

The Isle of Purbeck in Dorset (Swanage area) is lovely with loads of sandy beaches.   We have just come back from Woodyhyse in Corfe Castle which was OK but very busy and very basic facilities.   We have also stayed at Tom's Field nearby which was nice site, much quieter with better facilities.   Both of these actively encourage tents rather than caravans.  There are loads of other sites in this area too.

In terms of the New Forest, you are going to have to travel down to Bournemouth/ Poole for the beaches anyway as there aren't sandy beaches in the forest, they are all pebble ones.  I can't reccomend a campsite for tents in the forest as I haven't stayed on any of them, but it is a lovely place to visit.

We have just returned from Freshwater holiday centre in Bridport Dorset. Right on the beautiful private beech ( residents of the park only), great facilities with 3 seperate shower and toilet facilities, swimming pool , nightly entertainment.

What more could you ask for.

Brilliant off the beech fishing . Mackeral straight onto BBQ which you can use on beech.
