Primrose Valley is the better site in that area, just in case you have to swap mid-break.

Oh do they not? Bah. Does that makes them an "..ist" of some sort? Can't imagine why some sites are funny about trailer tents.

Hi Jan,
New user here, so hello to everyone

Im going over to Reighton Sands this afternoon with the family, just for a couple of days.

We don't plan on spending much time on the park as we will be visiting Flamingo Land tomorrow and then coming back home on Sunday.

Ive read some of the bad comments about Reighton, but as long as I have a pitch, a coolbox full of beer and a sausage sandwich for breakfast tomorrow i'll be happy.

Hope you have a good time.

Cheers
Paul

This info is interesting, we  have been to Reighton sands 3 times now but must admit we stayed in a gold static  caravan on Orchard court, so it was beautiful. Havent took our own van there so reading this thread with interest.

Haven was good when our kids were little, and Reighton is a bit of a quieter site compared to primrose and blue dolphin, it was all good for us.

The only fault I could find was that food was terrible and took forever to be served. We got our money back and a free bottle of 'vinegar' wine after complaining.

But it is ideally based if you like to get out and about. I actually thought Reighton was the best out of the 3 down there, but like I said we were in a static when we went.

Oh Paul, hope I have not put the dampeners on things, have a drive further up the coast and visit Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby if you have the time, they are both nice places.

I think my problem is that I remember Reighton Gap in "the olden days" before Haven got their hands on it and I probably haven't forgiven them for turning it into a "camp".

It used to be a very pleasant little village, the beach is great!

Enjoy!

Val

Hi Val,
I did Whitby a couple of years ago. We hired a caravan at Primrose valley for the week and spent a couple of days travelling around. Its a lovely part of the country.

Ive never been to Robin Hoods bay, it could be something to look at on Sunday, up to now we have nothing planned for Sunday.

I visited Reighton sands about 25 years ago, I would have been 12 or 13. I dont remember who owned the park at that point. I can only remember a caravan on a hill and i was in tears after spending my pocket money in the arcades on the first day.

I'll let you know how we get on.

Thanks
Paul

Robin Hood's Bay is fantastic - try to go when the tide is out. Fish and chip shop down by the beach is fab, and the ice cream van on the beach sells lovely stuff.

Hi Val,
Well im still alive.

Me the other half and my two girls 6 and 11 had a good time.

I said earlier i was going to Yorkshire to visit Flamingo Land, you see im a bit of a roller coaster junkie so we didnt spend THAT much time at the site.

We arrived about 6:30pm Friday to a crowded field, luckily I managed to find a fairly level pitch near the top of the hill on field no 2. Sorry to the family next door if they come on here I was a little close.

After spending a while fighting with the tent (wind started when i opened the hatchback of the car) we finally after some fiddling about got the tent pitched and ready for a beer at 8:30pm.

Went down to the fun bar which was absolutely chocker block not a spare table or seat in site, so we ended up in Flannigans bar and listened to the karaoke until midnight, got some chips and retired.

Spent most of the night sliding down the gradiant of the hill in my sleep bag, the next morning my a$$ was touching the side of the tent and was quite cold.

Warmish shower Saturday morning, the block was quite clean. All the toilets seemed cleaned and full of loo paper.

Out all day Saturday and we got back in time for a seat at the caberet venue. Youngest daughter loves all the characters, she had a great night.

We have visited Haven sites since we had the kids and each time they get worse at trying to extract money from guests. Lolly lights, Raffle, pictures with Anxious, Lanyards the list goes on and on and on. I know this is how they make the money on these sites it just infuriates me. They dont give up.

I was up at 5:30 today to take some sun rise photographs.

Packed up at 8:30am today and spent an hour on the beach, we were all that shattered by this time so we decided to skip any sight seeing and come home.

Overall a good weekend, yes the showers could have warmer, the pitch could have been a little more level. But it was camping, it was £15 a night and i got to ride some roller coasters. I cant complain. I will visit again.

Cheers
Paul

P.S. I know 2 hours is a long time. The reason.

1. New tent
2. Havent been camping since 2001, My family frame tent was too big for a weekend.
3. And worst of all I discovered ive been watching the wrong pitching video all week, i opened the tent bag and didnt have a clue. Its a Vango tent (Colorado) and id been watching another model get erected, you cant win em all.
