Buxton, Matlock, and Ashbourne. You're not too far from either. Buxton has a beautiful park with lots of ducks and is huge and great for a day out with your dog. Follow the parking signs near the visitor's center and you'll be right at the park. You're also close to Dovedale to do some hiking along the river. Matlock is very pretty and has Heights of Abraham.

You should also be near Carsington Water with lots of activities. Then there is Bakewell, famous for their tarts.

Yep.... can help with this one big time.....

Gulivers Kingdom.....Great for kids of this age ...  Mini Theme park bit like a mini Alton Towers but at a fraction  of the cost..  There are cable care rides ,log flume ,bumper cars  and its realy reasonable entry cost ..bit awkward (but not imposible if you are disabled as it is set at the top of a bank with  atractions  at seperate levels on tarmac surfaces  Matlock has a river running along side  which is nice for a bimble along  or if you are a motorbike nut wait till after tea time its a gathering place for alot of 50 yr old showing of their  latest machines (my boss takes his 13 yr old grandson at night... the lads will enjoy looking them if there into that sort of thing .....Also try ,

Blue John Mines,or Speedwell cavern for a underground expierence if the weathers goes bad on you....

Chatsworth house is an amazing Statley home just to drive through the Grounds have a picknic and see the Deer ,but there is also a great kids park/ Farm at the rear ,you can pay for just these if you dont wish to go into the House, and a good  farm shop for a special barbeque Meat treat (venison if you so wish) futher on the site

Ilam is good for a walk by the river

Black brook Zooalogical Park (road to Leek from Ashourne )is a good Half day out full of different spieces of birds

There is a bike hire place at Waterhousese on Manifold Valley (sorry the name slips my mind) where you can cycle alond the river side on a disused railway tarmaced Track...

Bakewell Town Good for a walk by the river its teaming with Trout and bargins for  camping/clothing

Before you ask ....No i dont work for the Peak district Tourist board but all of this is within a an hour  of my house and i still camp in the Peaks with family an friends

Hope you have a good one

         Happy Camping

Went to Callow Top in July.... hated it. Not a site that I would ever go back to. Others will disagree, but it wasn't a site for us. That aside, I'm Derbyshire born and bred and the county has a lot to offer.

Walking a plenty from the stepping stones at Dovedale to the likes of Kinder Scout. Carsington Water has water sports and there is the Tissington Trail for walking /Cycling.

Loadsa towns and villages, such as Ashbourne, Belper (Mills are a world heritage site) Matlock and Matlock Bath.... not forgetting the City of Derby. There is a cheese shop at Hartington which does Hartington Blue Stilton... yum!

The Dales themsleves are numerous. I love Lathkill Dale with it's crystal clear water and walks.

Alton Towers is fairly close by... and Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock.

Jeez, the list is endless....

If you are taking your bikes the Tissington trail, great cycling, is right next to the site, if your not there are places you can hire them from. You can bike in to Ashbourne.
