Hi, I've been looking for somewhere to go (in a tent) where the kids can have fun in the great outdoors (3 boys aged 5 -12), such as lots of trees, places to hide, make dens, maybe a stream to mess about in, (but safe) but can't find anything that isn't hundreds of miles away!

Any ideas please? I hate the idea of caravans and tents in a a row sort of site! We are near to Warwick, so nothing Wales, lakes, Devon way though, as only want to go for 3 nights!

Thanks.......

Hi

Check out the BRACELANDS CARAVAN AND CAMPING PARK. It is listed on this site. Its in Coleford, Gloucestershire.

Its about an hour and half drive from Coventry so it shouldn't be much more/less from Warwick.

We have been there twice this year for long weekends/short break. It is a lovely camp site on the edge of the forest of dean. We had 4 children in our party ages 7-8-11-14 and they all loved it there. There is lots to see and do, It might mean a short drive(or long walk) but worth it.

 hope this has been useful.

All the best

Paul

Hi paul, thanks for the reply. have looked at the site. Just wondered what the electric hook up pitches were like, as that is what we prefer, but didn't know if they sound not to be so rural? Also, is the land very sloping, as we have a tent, not caravan? thanks for your help.

Hi

I also have a tent and it's not to bad. There are some sloping pitches but they normally put the caravans on them. The camping hook ups for tents are shared between four but you are not to close to each other. Its very clean and tidy and the showers/toilets are clean.

I sound like a sales man. I wonder if they would give me a discount next time i go....LOL.

ATB

Try here - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1133 - Doward Park in the Forest of Dean, near Ross on Wye so handy to get to. It only takes tents & campervans and has a woodland area specifically for children to build dens in. It's small too, so nice & safe for their freedom. There's a walk to the River Wye past a cave and you can hire canoes etc at Symonds Yat or climb to the viewpoint there. That should ensure they sleep well at night!
