My son and 3 friends age 18 are looking for a site in Yorkshire. Understandably, a lot of sites won't accept single sex groups. The lads are a good bunch, and just want to relax and chill out. Has anyone got any ideas, where might be prepared to accept them?

Cannot help you in yorkshire but Skegness Water Park is a fun site that would accept them if prepared to split into 2 groups quote-
We are a family and couples only site and do not accept large parties or single sex groups of 3 or more.

We regret that we are unable to provide electric hook-up points for young couples.

Gosh - I wonder how old you have to be before you get EHU? My OH and I are 27 - maybe we would go crazy with too much electricity!

Re. the boy, I'm not sure how you'd find this out but Yorkshire must get D of E parties so must be some kind of approved campsites for groups of teenagers. They would certainly have them in Derbyshire. Perhaps they could pretend they are doing d of e?

Me and my chums have exactly the same problem. We're as good as gold but 95% of campsites won't consider us. Really pees me off, to be honest.

What we resort to doing sometimes is arriving at separate intervals; two of us roll up in the car and book one pitch, a few moments later one of us walks up with big backpack and his own tent, books himself in.

Nobody has challenged us... yet.

Think the origional idea was to stop the use of noisy equipment but not sure how that would work with todays cars lol.

Thanks for the replies - it seems a shame that all young people are assumed to cause noise / trouble, when you would hope that if they are given a chance, they could prove themselves.

The idea of D of E campsites is worth a thought, and also splitting into pairs is worth a try. Thanks a bunch, lets hope they can find somewhere - i will keep you posted.

In Derbyshire there is smal village called Biggin. Teenagers are allowed to stay at the Waterloo Inn on the main street and the price is very cheap if they pay in full before they go. Single sex groups are fine here, this site was recomended to me for the same reason. They can also have electric hook up. I just got back form there with a group of my friends and we are aged between 17 and 19. We all got on well with others staying there and there are frequent busses to the local towns if they enjoy going to night clubs etc. The pub on site also serves great meals and the pub is open till around 1:30am. Noise is not genuinely a problem as everyone seems get a bit rowdy but providing they dont cause any mojor trouble after a couple of drinks noise is tolerated.
