Does anyone have any recommendations. Our son is starting at Sunderland Uni in September and it's too far to go there and back in a day so we thought we'd try and camp overnight before we drive back. I've had a look around this site but can't seem to find anything - can anyone help please?
Thanks,
Fiona
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
The two sites nearest Sunderland for tents ( I see you have a Sunncamp 250) are The Sandhaven site at South Shields (this site is about a 7 mile drive along the Coast Road from the Uni) or the Caravan club site on the outskirts of Durham (on the Junction of the A1 and the A690 - about 10 mile out of Sunderland)
The South Shields site would probably be better for you as there is more within walking distance of the site. (it is opposite the beach as well.)
I actually work at Sunderland Uni, so thought I better try and give you some help!! Unfortunately there are no campsites in Sunderland itself, but there iare some in South Shields which is about a 20min drive, there is some info on here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/townlisting.asp?town=South%20Shields
If you want to be closer, there are b&b's and hotels in central Sunderland, the travelodge is literally opposite the City Campus. Is your son going to be based at St.Peters or City Campus? If there is anything else you want any help with regarding the Uni or accomodation, please dont hesitate to ask, or I can give you my email address.http://www.visitsunderland.com/where_to_stay/index.html
Hello thankyou both for your help, this really is a great website.
Slinkycat, please could I have your email address as I have a couple of questions you may be able to help me with, not having much luck getting this info from Joe (thinks he knows it all and we are far too lowly to understand about Uni)
I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Fiona

Hm, not sure why it put at in should be at ntlworld.com
it's to stop you getting junk mail, because it doesn't form a valid link and has to be typed in properly
if you do give out your e-mail address you should amend it in this sort of way.
