Sorry if enquiries have already been made about this site.  I started checking but don't have time to plough through all 32 pages to see if my question has been answered already.  It looks lovely.  Does anybody know how the freezer and fridge system works?  Do you rent a box or shelf or do you just take pot luck and hope that your stuff is still there intact the next time you want it?

My next question applies to any site really.  Would women be annoyed to see a 9 year old boy in the ladies showers?  I am taking my grandson as well as my 10 year old daughter.  Sometimes my husband is later than us in the shower and my daughter is worrying about my grandson going in the showers alone.  I won't do it therefore.  We will probably have to synchronise our visits but it would be easier if I can take him with us in the ladies side.  Do people do this and are other people bothered about it?

Point one, just put your name on the bag of food and put it in the fridge , safe as houses.

Point two, Grandson should be safe in the mans showers !!. lots of youngsters go alone.

We went to Pencelli a few years ago (on our family maiden voyage by the way).  Lovely site.  I do remember that they had a family bathroom too which could be an option for your grandson.  I have an 8 year old son and I have to say for my own peace of mind I wouldn't let him go into the gents showers by himself.

Think is was a case of just bagging up your own food and putting your name on it but I'd agree it would be safe.  We are generally a trusworthy lot.

I didn't think of such a simple thing as a big bag with my name on!  Thanks, think I can manage that.

Two conflicting opinions about the showers tho'.

Whacker, I think you are  probably right but, my daugher having expressed misgivings, I think I would have to make sure he is accompanied or take him with me.

JLW1 - Do you take  your son in the ladies side or does your OH go with him to the gents?  If the former, does anybody seem to mind? (Notice, I am assuming you are a woman!) Just swop the gender references if neccessary.

Thank you both for your help.

Hello again Crofter,

Yes I am a woman.  My hubby takes him if possible but I've just got back from a week in cornwall with my sisters and their children so my boys were the only 'males' in the party.  I took them both into the ladies showers and toilets and nobody seemed to bat an eyelid.

Choose your time right for showers and you'll not have too much company either.  As I say Pencelli have at least 1 private family shower room (it may have been 2) so if he's still of the age where he doesn't mind you overseeing his shower then I'd use that. But to be honest the ladies shower cubicles, if I remember right, were very good for drying and changing in anyway and I rarely see scantily clad ladies wandering about in the loos whereever I've camped and if they do then it's their look out really.

As a matter of interest we took our boys to the waterpark at Alton Towers recently and the toilets there were unisex.  Very 'modern'!

It's a chance in a million I guess that there may be some pervert hanging about but I don't think I'd like to take the chance with my boys at least not yet a while. They are too precious...... and anyway aside from that, the hard work is getting them in the shower to have a wash in the first place!!!

Hope this helps.  I'm sure there are many people who think otherwise than me.  But who's to say anybody is right or wrong.  I'd just say go with your instinct.

Jeni

Thanks Jeni.

Had to giggle at the 'getting them in the shower' bit.  Don't think my daughter cares too much actually.  If he showers he does, if he doesn't he doesn't but she knows I won't have that.  So does he: he knows the score with me and submits without a whimper.
