So the Vermont XL is ordered and should arrive in the next few days

This will be our first trip, so it has to be good!

We are looking for a campsite in Cumbria that is good for families, can accommodate a Vermont XL and has electric hook-ups for tents. Keswick would be nice, but we are flexible.

I have read a lot of the reviews on this site, but a personal recommendation for newcomers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Keswick C & C site is nice, as is Park Foot, Wyndham hall is nice, has EHU and is very cheap (but in Cockermouth, not Keswick. The village of Allonby in Cumbria has our favourite site, lovely, quiet with a great small indoor pool for rainy days...called Spring Lea...we love it there

Spring Lea is lovely, a nice quiet site with a small indoor pool and a short walk to the beach. Stanwix Park at Silloth is nice as well and has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, crazy golf, ten pin bowling and family entertainment in a wonderful showbar. Not rowdy either and we have been twice and loved it.

I'd highly recommend Springlea too, however, it can get VERY windy.

Great pool though and pitches are nice and level, and well marked out.

Car boot sale on Saturday mornings too!!

It depends on how old your children are. The best 2 we have found this year are Park cliffe near windermere and Fisherground Farm, in Eskdale. Kids loved both of these, they are 10 and 2 years. Coniston Hall is fantastic but I dont think its got EHU.

Beacons fell is great for families but can be a little expensive. We have booked for Aug Bank Holiday weekend and its £105 for 4 nights but has a pool and evening entertainment etc.

Whatever you choose have a good one.

Jonny

I second that Allonby can get windy. Fisherground is an excellent campsite but it only has 4 EHU and they get booked quickly.
