We want to try out our new tent for a short break, can anybody recommend a nice quiet campsite near Sussex or Kent for a newbie family? This will be our first attempt at camping, we want it to be a good one. I've looked at the campsite reviews, Blackberry Wood sounds nice but it's maybe too close to home.

Broadhembury, just south of Ashford is a very nice site.
To be honest, for our first camping trip we specifically went somewhere that was very close to home, just in case! We opted for a campsite that was only 10 mins drive from home. We also choose sites that have a children's play area for our 3 little ones.
Norwood Farm.Lovely family site. Not far from New Romney,Dymchurch lovely beaches.Very reasonably priced.Fridges and freezers provided in the washing up area.

Have a look at Kloofs, think its in Kent... Went there last summer and if its peace & quite you want then this should fit the bill and its only a 20 minute drive to a beach.
Mark and Karen.I had a look at Kloofs it looks lovely. Its in East Sussex near Bexhill. It will be worth a visit for us next year def.Made a note of it.A country feel but not far to the coast. When we lived in the Midlands we always holidayed by the sea,but now we live not 5 mins from it we dont mind being amongst the trees.M
Have a look at Cobbs Hill Farm, which I think is just outside Bexhill. I last stayed there a couple of years ago but I believe the facilities have been improved (not that there was anything wrong with them).

We've been to Tanner Farm, Norwood Farm and Cobbs Hill Farm. Personally I think Norwood Farm is the best as it is so small, has excellent facilities and close to beach and other areas of interest. Is also probably the cheapest of the three. It is a quiet site, surrounded by sheep.
Tanner Farm is beautiful and has it's own animals - goats, pigs etc to entertain the kids. Also has good playground. Bit more expensive.
Wicks Farm, West Wittering is also very good. Beaches at West Wittering are outstanding.
Thanks for the advice everybody, it is so useful to get these personal recommendations. Nice toilets and showers are very important to me, I know it will put me off camping if I have a first bad experience.
I don't know which one we will choose yet, I will post and tell you how my first camping trip has gone.
