What are the beaches like around this area.  We are staying at Ad Astra camping this week.  Does anybody know if you can walk to the beach from this site.  Thanks

A quick look at a website saves nine posts

See http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=3079 and the site's own pages which suggest it's possible, though around 2 miles.

Hi!

Yes its about 2 miles a bit far to walk!

And no pavement to walk on for a few hundred hards or so!

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

The beach at Benllech is great, very long and very clean, with crystal clear water (but very cold), can get busy at times though. the only downside is the greasy spoon cafe which is opposite, but you can walk down the beach to St Davids camp site (to the right if you are looking out to sea) where there is a nice pub on site if you fancy a meal or just a walk and a nice cold drink. This also takes you to Red Wharf Bay.
Have fun

PS make sure you park your car in the car park (pay & display, £2 for the day), as you only get 30 mins if you park on the road, and the traffic wardens do come round, contrary to what others may tell you.
If the main car park is full, go right out of car park and you will find another one just round the bend.
