We are camping in our new Vango Aspen 500 DLX but don't fancy getting it muddy on its first outing! I know it's camping and their is mud but their is also MUD!! Went weekend before last and the pitches were fine . We stayed on the market field.

There's a great family pub called the Ocean which is about a mile away , this place has great views across the Severn and has a wonderful terraced beer garden and it's cheap, a great place.

hi

we got back last week. its really nice.very windy but nice and friendly.

hot showers and if you find the bunnies shop they have toilet blocks with 2 baths. nice and clean.well looked after,no mud.

we stayed in fieled 5(dont know what its called)and it was nice. take windbreaks to sheild the tent from the wind as it was soooo windy everyday.

kids enjoyed the beachcomber for evening entertainment and the food was good aswell.

we drove on the beach and used the car as a wind break along with our proper windbreak and it was nice but chilly.

if you drive right to the end of the road(out the campsite turn right and keep going) so you cant go no further and there is an old fort.you have to climb the 172 steps but it will keep you fit.also had a few food places down there.

Just back this weekend. Great site. I stayed on field 6 and I don't think you are at risk of flooding on there unless you are very unlucky to get torrential rain!

You get to choose your own pitch on the field so try not to choose a muddy one! Some were getting a little muddy where tents had been but as you say a little mud is part and parcel, now a bog is a different story.

You'll be fine.

Just beware of the showers - lovely and posh but you set yourself up in a cubile and go out to a slot machine on the wall and insert 50p for 8 mins - should be plenty but you will be bamboozled if you run out half way through

we payed 20p for 6 mins in field 5 and there are also 2 baths on site but we didnt use them. they are £1 for 25 mins i think. 6 mins was plenty long enough although i never timed them so i cant say for definate how long they last

field 6 have a new shower/toilet block so maybe thats why they are more expensive, we stay on this field as no pets allowed. we love this site, most fields have a park going through them which are v safe,

the club/pub at the bottom of the road gets v busy and you need to get there before 7 to get seats, brilliant playbarn for the kids if its cold, closes at 10pm so my little ones used to go in some eves,

beach is opp, so no need to car,

lots of places to vist-chedder gorge, wookey hole, western etc

you will have a lovely time,

will confirm its v v windy there

be warned wookey hole was expensive and i didnt think it was worth the money cost us just short of £50 for a family of 5. the caves are lovely but wasnt worth the money. others will disagree but we all have our own opinions.

we saw the new shower block, nicer than the old one in field 5 but this old one was still clean.

dogs are allowed in this field but we didnt mind and didnt really see any.

That is interesting as I thought WH looked very expensive too being a family of 5 like yourself. What did fascinate me though the other week was that there were posters for WH everywhere. In weston there was a dinasour on the back of a truck driving around advertising and a caravan on the sea front with some animated characters advertising it.

WH is desperate for publicity but perhaps if they lowered their price a little more people would go.

as we live in cheddar, the sign of WH is all around us nearly as bad as tesco`s rather irritating, some locals have the signs in their gardens, wether they are getting a freeby not sure, and the `mobile dragon` was actualy parked for a while in the large car park at the bottom of the gorge! the neck of some people!prefer the caves of drach in Majorca my self
