Hi I have just decided to go to the lakes on friday (a bit late I know) I am taking my small tent ,the kids and dog and dont require electric hook up ..does anyone know where would be the best place to find a pitch at this late notice (maybe a site with a big overflow field??) thanks in advance........

You could try Low Wray at Windermere...the site is I think National Trust.....you can't book you just turn up.....have a look at reviews on here.

Try Low Wray or Great Langdale (both near Ambleside) they are national trust sites and its a turn up on the day site. However having spoken to the site earlier this week they said they expect to be fully booked early. If no look there then try Fisherground again they do not take bookings.

Couldn't you have read one of the other threads on the subject instead of starting four more?

Burns Farm is pretty good for ad-hoc bookings.
