Hi all, finally decided to just go for it and book a few days camping. Had a few sites who would not accept my tent (pro action tundra 9 man) because of the size but finally found one. We're off to Northam Farm in Brean tomorrow for 4 nights. Sounds like a great place with good reviews.
Hopefully all will go well for our first camping trip, expecting a few problems with putting the tent up as i've only set it up in my back garden which isn't big enough.
Anyway, i'll post and let you all know how I get on when I get back.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Tents go up easier with plenty of practice so dont worry - there is normally always someone that will happily lend a hand but dont be afraid to ask either
we all have to start off somewhere

Hopefully, you'll find the tent easier each time you put it up, practice definitely helps. Enjoy your first camping trip - I was totally hooked after my first night!

Well we survived our first camping trip and all went fairly well. The weather was fantastic, the site was superb and clean and we all enjoyed our stay.
The only downside to camping is the morning trip to the toilet blocks, especially with the kids in tow, particularly if you wake up at 5.30 in the morning and its not very warm but we had no other problems with camping.
I'm not sure if we will become dedicated campers yet but there are definate advantages when you have a large family like I do.
I think we will be going camping again as it is more affordable for my family, although some site seem to be taking the pee with some of the additional charges. I would eventually like to try going abroad once I am used to it. It is possibly a more affordable way of taking my lot abroad as package holidays for a family of six are ridiculously priced. A quick note for anyone who is thinking about trying camping for the first time but has concerns, just go for it. You might just enjoy yourself!
Anyway, thanks for the advice on here and I'll continue to read and contribute to this site.
