Nothing wrong with the odd cobweb but I think the point trying to be made, is it wasn't just 'the odd cobweb'.  I'm sure we've all experienced our fair share of 'public toilets' and some really do need a bit more attention paid to them.  Its one thing having 'the odd cobweb' but to feeling like you doing your business in your very own 'cobweb' because there are so many of them is a bit offputting.

they dont  bother me as long as showers are clean and toilets as well. if lights are left on in shower blocks this attracts moths and outher insects.i used to see loads at wallingford once seen a deaths head hawk moth there any way spiders keep these insects at bay.moths and crainflys dont bite its the midges when your on a riverside pitch that bite not forgeting ants as well if they get in your tent your night can be a living hell.

Not worried as long as the spider isn't as big as my hand.

The funniest thing I found in the showers was a frog joining me at Resipole site.  Made me jump although perhaps I frightened him/her too.

One of my favourite sites has an unusual toilet block cleaned regularly and with piped music.  Great,  The locks can make you worried though lol.

Hmm, it's funny because several things spring to mind here.

1. Have you ever been in a public toilet in a town centre that stinks to high Heaven, covered with graffiti and and who knows what else. Oddly enough there is a distinct lack of spiders webs, either they're really clean toilets, or the spiders don't even consider these a good place to "hang" out.

2. As I was taking down the inner tent after my most recent trip I hapened to notice a spider's web, or the start of one between the outer and inner tent - so what does that say (okay I forgot my feather duster). Still, I prefer it to all the damn flying insects that are attracted to the bright light at night, at least spiders sit tight and wait, without buzzing around my head.

3. As long as the toilet seat and bowl are clean and don't pong, and the shower floor is acceptable, does it matter? Or are these spiders webs very close to where you're standing? In which case I would question how frequently the place is used.

Above all else, try and look at it this way, the spider isn't out to get you. If something is stuck in a web, then the chances are it'll stay stuck unless it's disturbed, and its unlikely the spider will decide to throw empty carcasses at you.

Also, consider how much the site is charging, if it's a next to nothing then I guess it kind of explains it, on the other hand if its AA rated with five pennants, and a C&CC member then I guess its time to have a word with the owners.

You want spiders in the roof?  Go to camping de la filature in Ebreuil in the Auvergne in France.  Don't get me wrong we loved our stay there but the loos were in several single rows and really old with the rafters showing.  The cobwebs were unbelievable and OH hates spiders!

They were regularly cleaned though and no complaints about the actual sinks, loos and showers but just don't look up.

We found a giant spider clan in the portakabin loos at Northey Lodge near Peterborough!

The loos and shower themselves were clean, but the extensive webs must have been years old, with lots of corpses and some very big spiders indeed (1 to 2" leg span). I am not phobic about bugs, but they gave me the creeps a bit - all them shiny arachnoid eyes watching you in the shower!!??!!

We mentioned it to reception when we were leaving, as it would certainly be very offputting for some customers (especially arachnophobes).

I don't so much mind spiders, cobwebs and the odd small beetle. What I can't stand is unsupervised children in shower blocks!! Wet seats, unflushed loos, toilet roll all over the floor. and why can't people wipe round the washbasins when they have used them? I would much rather have a cobweb and spiders in my bathroom than people who have no respect.
