Book the ferry online. Depending on which company you go with you can sail from Southampton to Cowes, Portsmouth to Ryde or Lymington to Yarmouth. The island isn't all that big so you can't really get lost. Lots of things to see & do.
Red Funnel and Wightlink are the 2 ferry companies to get you there. I always find Red Funnel cheaper and if you are prepared to travel early going and late coming home you can reduce your fare. 6am is the cheapest, 8am next rate and then after its dearer. Coming home we usually get the 7pm crossing to get the cheaper rate as well. Some sites do ferry packages so ask.

We have just returned from the IOW. We stayed at Southland near Sandown, (see the reviews, can't do a link yet ) Our tickets came with the site booking that, (I think!) works out cheaper. Also, we changed our van to a longer one before sailing and the site sorted out the changes re. the ferries
We have just come back from Whitefield forest, fab quiet site no entertainment, check reviews for whitcliff bay. We got our feryy with a package from the campsite as it worked cheaper during summer hols, red funnel is lots cheaper than wight link. Loads to do on the Island.

Hi,
If you shop in Tesco save your clubcard vouchers for the ferry, Wightlink take them as do some of the attractions like Amazon World & Dinosaur Isle.

We to stayed at Southland 10-20th August, nice site handy for sandown, shanklin, not to far from ferry approx 30 mins, will probably return soon as shift rota lines up with the school hols!
We stayed at The Orchards last year - very nice site. They book ferry for you, you just tell them waht times you would like! All very easy and the Isle if Wight was lovely.
We went to Old Barn for spring bh week and liked it very much. They do ferry/site deals, the one for couples is a very good price I think. The site is near Sandown/Shanklin and there is a Morrison's nearby which has a cafe.
