I keep reading all the wonderful things about this site, but would it suit us? Don't have children to amuse, like to go out for a meal and drink in the evening, like to go places during the day. I must have been to Builth Wells, been just about everywhere in Wales and I know some of the smaller towns are very quiet - any decent pubs here and what's to do in the area?

There's plenty of walking to be done in the area, you can walk loads on tracks around the farm even. Builth Wells is lovely but not very big, similarly Llandrindod Wells, Brecon is also lovely. there's a pub in the village a short walk from the campsite (not been in but others recommend it). Plenty of drives in lovely countryside with narrow lanes and stopping points for a picnic etc. Lots of places to visit around and about, forestry / red kite centres, craft places etc.
It is a really nice campsite, whether you've got kids or not, there is a quiet area where the children aren't allowed to race around and make a noise if you asked Katie I'm sure she could find you space in there if you wanted.

Thanks, OH doesn't like footballs hitting the van, although we don't mind kids. I just thought it might be a very family orientated site, not that there's anything wrong with that.
We went there last week and it was lovely. Even though there were lots of families there (including us with our 3 kids) it was very quiet and peaceful. And we never heard a peep after 9pm from anybody and we were pitched right next to the wash house/shower block.
As have been said before there are lots of walks around the farm and the Brecon Beacons are not that far away.
I can definately recommend this site and would do to anyone.
Hay on Wye and all its bookshops is only about 30 minutes drive away. We even got parking for our campervan there on Easter Sunday. I love books so it may not suit every one.
We have been to FF's loads of times and haven't visited the pub yet, we tend to cook a nice tea open a bottle of wine and relax.
There isn't an actual play area and children do play ball games so you may be best in the quiet area if OH doesn't fancy having a football kicked at your van. the kids find plenty of other stuff to do though, mine forgot to take the football with us last time and didn't miss it. Hardly played with the swingball either. They're too busy fishing in the ponds and stream.

The pub stops serving food at 2.00pm on Sundays.
We got there at 5 past and they told us the kitchens were closed!
But to be fair if they stop serving at 2pm, the kitchen would have shut down a while before that. If chef has gone, he's gone! Unless of course you fancies Pot Noodles!
